Guest abovetherim Posted January 21, 2008 Report Posted January 21, 2008 Clerc Koenck sets new school record in 1 mile run Jan. 20, 2008 HOUSTON - The Lamar University men's and women's track and field teams took the track for a second time this season, running at the Leonard Hilton Memorial at the Yeoman Field House at the University of Houston. A week after setting a new school record in the women's 3,000 meter run, Clerc Koenck was at it again, this time setting a new school record and meet record in the women's 1 mile run with a 4:49.84 performance. Her effort is the fourth fastest time in Southland Conference history. Renee Graham grabbed fourth place in the 3,000, clocking a 5:03.75, while Karesse Lethermon placed eighth with a 5:16.67 performance. Lydia O'Donnell rounded out the Lamar's top finishers in the mile, placing 11th with a time of 5:21.67. In the men's 1 mile run Francis Kasagule took the top spot, clocking a 4:10.57 while Ewan Simpson came in sixth place with a 4:15.42 performance. Samuel Kosgei also finished in the top 10, coming in seventh place in a time of 4:22.92. Frank Bwambale had a solid start to the meet for the Lamar men, finishing in second place in the 5,000 meter run. He clocked a time of 15:16.95. Brittany Pollard ran very well at the meet, earning points in both the 200 meter dash and the 400 meter dash. She grabbed a sixth place finish in the 200 in a time of 26.30, and placed ninth in the 400 with a 59.33 performance. Ashley Smith joined Pollard in scoring points in the 200, placing ninth in a time of 26.44. In the men's 60 meter dash the Cardinals had two runners make it to the finals, as Michael Gauthier grabbed a ninth place finish with a 7.07 second performance. Stephen Boone finished in 13th place, clocking a 7.14. In the men's 400 Jerel Massenburge grabbed a top 10 finish, finishing in ninth place with a 50.85 performance. In the women's 4x400 meter relay the Lamar "A" team posted a seventh place finish in a time of 4:05.44. The men's relay team grabbed eighth place in a time of 3:29.23.
