Koenck got the weekend started for Lamar, winning the women's mile in a time of 4:50.95, one second behind her season and personal best performance on Friday. The 4:50.95 is the second fastest mile run in Lamar University history. Graham followed Koenck's performance with a third place finish in the women's 5,000 meter run in a time of 16:58.51 on Friday. The time sets a new Lamar school record and is the first-ever sub 17 minute 5,000 meter run in school history. In addition to setting the LU record, the time is the fifth fastest in Southland Conference history. On Saturday the Cardinals men took to the track, and picked up where the women left off. Kasagule started the day with a third place finish in the 3,000 meter run with a 7:56.10 finish. He broke his own school record of 7:59.21, which was also the standing record for the Southland Conference. Kosgei wrapped up the weekend for LU with another record setting performance, running to a fourth place finish in the 5,000 meter run in a time of 14:21.07. He set a new Lamar school record by 15 second and posted the second fastest time in SLC history with the performance. The Cardinals four distance runners will rejoin the rest of the track team and will be back in action next weekend when they run at the Houston Indoor Classic on Friday and Saturday at the Yeoman Field House at the University of Houston. http://lamarcardinals.cstv.com/sports/m-track/spec-rel/012708aab.html
