STINGER Posted July 7, 2006 Report Posted July 7, 2006 Who is your teams rival? Why, what started it all? For Hemphill it's a tie between San Augustine and West Sabine... Hemphill vs. West Sabine has for years been dubbed the "Pinecone Bowl". These are the only two teams in Sabine County and are only 12 miles apart. However this rivalry seems to not be as heated as it once was. Hemphill vs. San Augustine: The kids from these two schools just seem to despise each other. Don't know why, maybe it's because we are only about 20 miles apart? I have no clue, but it makes for an intense game
kicker Posted July 7, 2006 Report Posted July 7, 2006 Well Im not sure about the biggest, but with Bridge City being about 4 miles away, orangefield about 5 miles, and LCM about 7 miles away. We (WOS) have somewhat of a rivalry with them. BC and LCM more than O'field. O'field has only played us twice 04 and 05. So we dont have really anything there. If you want to pick one, Id say Jasper because of the awesome games we have had over the years. Their are numerous years that we played them twice!
KFDM COOP Posted July 7, 2006 Report Posted July 7, 2006 LCM and Bridge City has some heated Rivalries in the 80's and 90's.

KFDM COOP Posted July 7, 2006 Report Posted July 7, 2006 Gosh PN-G and Nederland go waaayyy back. I'll those those guys talk about that one.
Bobcatfan4life Posted July 7, 2006 Report Posted July 7, 2006 I know Orangefield and Buna have been rivals since the 80's. Also Orangefield and Bridge City started their rivalry in 2000 when BC dropped to 3A.
KJB324 Posted July 8, 2006 Report Posted July 8, 2006 WOS and Nederland isn't near as bad as Nederland & PNG but it was a pretty big rivalry cuz of contoversey surrounding one game.
Bobcatfan4life Posted July 8, 2006 Report Posted July 8, 2006 Here's a link for the PNG/Ned rivalry: http://www.pngindians.com/pngnedrivalry.html
Bobcatfan4life Posted July 8, 2006 Report Posted July 8, 2006 "The Bayou Bowl" Orangefield vs Bridge City 2000-Bridge City 35 Orangefield 6 2001-Bridge City 24 Orangefield 0 2002-Bridge City 36 Orangefield 0 2003-Orangefield 15 Bridge City 14 2004-Bridge City 48 Orangefield 0 2005-Bridge City 28 Orangefield 0
KFDM COOP Posted July 8, 2006 Report Posted July 8, 2006 Here's a link for the PNG/Ned rivalry: http://www.pngindians.com/pngnedrivalry.html 1925.
KFDM COOP Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 WOS and Nederland isn't near as bad as Nederland & PNG but it was a pretty big rivalry cuz of contoversey surrounding one game. Which game?
SFA85 Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 WO-S won the last 3 with Ned. It was that first game(2002) I think when a kid got tossed out of the game for a questionable late hit. I'm sure a bulldog fan(atic) will verify or deny this
cardinal81o7 Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 its not a rivalry if you get outscored 185-20 in six years....bc/of is no rivalry its just a short drive.
KFDM COOP Posted July 9, 2006 Report Posted July 9, 2006 Here's a link for the PNG/Ned rivalry: http://www.pngindians.com/pngnedrivalry.html I wonder what the Uniforms looked like in 1925?
KFDM COOP Posted July 10, 2006 Report Posted July 10, 2006 As far as the biggest Rivalry in the area it would have to be Nederland/PNG.
Bigdog Posted July 10, 2006 Report Posted July 10, 2006 I have mine!! Season ticket holder, so I don't have to stand in line Of course it took me 5 years to get season tickets.
Bigdog Posted July 10, 2006 Report Posted July 10, 2006 Because of the waiting list. Only about 30 season tickets are available every year, and several hundred people who camp out overnight when they go on sale. You pretty much have to wait for someone to move away or die to get tickets.
scroungy Posted July 11, 2006 Report Posted July 11, 2006 Buna and Kirbyville go way back because they are so close and Buna and BC and Orangefield just because they have never gotten along
tvc184 Posted July 11, 2006 Report Posted July 11, 2006 As far as the biggest Rivalry in the area it would have to be Nederland/PNG. And it is not just football. It extends to every sport down to peewee league anything. Little League playoff games between Nederland and Port Neches might draw a larger crowd than most high schools get at regular season baseball games. Some schools might have an arch rival in football, another in baseball and yet another in basketball, etc. With Nederland and PNG, it is anything that you can think of.
KFDM COOP Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 its not a rivalry if you get outscored 185-20 in six years....bc/of is no rivalry its just a short drive. Oh come on now.
Guest Kelly Football Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 I'm hoping we can get a rivalry started with Bridge City.
