Your teams biggest rival and what created the rivalry?

Recommended Posts

Who is your teams rival? Why, what started it all?

For Hemphill it's a tie between San Augustine and West Sabine...

Hemphill vs. West Sabine has for years been dubbed the "Pinecone Bowl". These are the only two teams in Sabine County and are only 12 miles apart. However this rivalry seems to not be as heated as it once was.

Hemphill vs. San Augustine: The kids from these two schools just seem to despise each other. Don't know why, maybe it's because we are only about 20 miles apart? I have no clue, but it makes for an intense game

Well Im not sure about the biggest, but with Bridge City being about 4 miles away, orangefield about 5 miles, and LCM about 7 miles away. We (WOS) have somewhat of a rivalry with them. BC and LCM more than O'field. O'field has only played us twice 04 and 05. So we dont have really anything there. If you want to pick one, Id say Jasper because of the awesome games we have had over the years. Their are numerous years that we played them twice!

WO-S won the last 3 with Ned. It was that first game(2002) I think when a kid got tossed out of the game for a questionable late hit. I'm sure a bulldog fan(atic) will verify or deny this

Because of the waiting list. Only about 30 season tickets are available every year, and several hundred people who camp out overnight when they go on sale. You pretty much have to wait for someone to move away or die to get tickets.

As far as the biggest Rivalry in the area it would have to be Nederland/PNG.

And it is not just football. It extends to every sport down to peewee league anything. Little League playoff games between Nederland and Port Neches might draw a larger crowd than most high schools get at regular season baseball games.

Some schools might have an arch rival in football, another in baseball and yet another in basketball, etc. With Nederland and PNG, it is anything that you can think of.

    • Why play in Rusk?   15 miles farther you guys could have played in Jacksonville at the Tomato Bowl
    • The freshman RB that was called up early is as others have described. If he chooses a solid path, he could easily be LP’s first 5 star. That’s saying something with the RB’s that have come through La Porte. There have been Olympic gold medalists, NFL players, and others. But, no 5 stars I’m aware of… Let’s hope he listens to solid role models, and realizes the opportunity he’s been given to use the talent he’s been gifted. On top of that, Barnes, Sandolph, and Bright are still there. Not sure how coach keeps them all happy spreading the ball around.
    • I just heard we spent $500 Million in Russia to study cats.  Anyone actually gullible enough to think that money actually went to study cats?!   SMH!
