Icky3284 Posted February 1, 2008 Report Posted February 1, 2008 This district and Arp/Tatum's district have been the best 2 districts in 2A for the last 3 years.
24 over par Posted February 1, 2008 Report Posted February 1, 2008 this district has had its share of state champs
24 over par Posted February 1, 2008 Report Posted February 1, 2008 at least once and maybe twice ec and kountze played in the region final so the district had the 2 best teams in the region
bob_sakamano Posted February 1, 2008 Report Posted February 1, 2008 EC and Kountze have met in the regional finals two of the last three years. And the other year both were in the regional tournament. Arp beat EC in the semis and Kountze in the regional finals on their way to the state title.
AggiesAreWe Posted February 2, 2008 Report Posted February 2, 2008 I guess it all depends on how you define " toughest district". Some would say a tough district would be how their 3 teams did in the state playoffs, if all 3 or 2 of 3 advanced deep into the playoffs. To me, that would be saying that district had 3 of the best teams in the region if not the state. Others would say a tough district would be where 4-5 teams are playoff caliber but only 3 go, leaving 2 teams behind who are more than worthy of a playoff spot. To me, that's what makes a tough district. Like 21-3A in football, you had 2 teams left out of the playoffs that if you put them in alot of other districts, they would advance. In 24-2A, you have EC, Hardin and Kountze, but after that, not much to brag about. Six of one, half dozen of the other.
24 over par Posted February 2, 2008 Report Posted February 2, 2008 deweyville beat orangefield and so did warren , warren i think beat jasper also and 1 of those will be a 3a playoff team not that bad for 4th and 5th place teams
the wise one Posted February 2, 2008 Report Posted February 2, 2008 i agree this district is tough 1-6 warren, deweyville, and anahuac could all three make the playoffs in a different district.
CATMAN Posted February 2, 2008 Report Posted February 2, 2008 THE WISE ONE ---------WOULD YOU NAME THE DIST THAT THEY WOULD WIN
the wise one Posted February 2, 2008 Report Posted February 2, 2008 im not saying they would win a district but im sure their is some district in the state of texas that warren could win but i believe that in some district in the state of texas that one of these teams could make the playoffs

You could make that statement for a whole lot of teams by putting them in the weakest district.
Bucof2010 Posted February 3, 2008 Author Report Posted February 3, 2008 I think year in and out we have two of the toughest teams in the state but after that no consistency or strong teams.
whsalum Posted February 3, 2008 Report Posted February 3, 2008 Kountze is historically strong and EC has been very good over the last 4 years with Tramain leading the way. This has been a strange year for the 4-6 place teams in this district.Warren loses a 3 pt game at Deweyville and a 4 pt game at Hardin to pretty much take them out of the race.Deweyville loses in double OT to Hardin then loses to Anahuac by 15 to eliminate themselves.Anahuac looks good early but loses 2 key players to grades and there history.Overall this district is closer than some folks think 1-6.With all that being said it is a tough 2-a district but it is down a little this year from the previous 3 years.
UT#1 Posted February 4, 2008 Report Posted February 4, 2008 warren would win quite a few other districts and this is probably the only district that they wouldnt make the playoffs in ...

Well said, I've seen alot of Basketball in this District this year, and 1-6 are all capable of playing with anybody in 2a.
DP#1FAN Posted February 4, 2008 Report Posted February 4, 2008 Maybe not as tuff as in the past but still a very tough district. Just as some of the 3A & 4A teams they played this year.
24 over par Posted February 4, 2008 Report Posted February 4, 2008 that speaks well for the district when it is down some this year and still 3 teams with a shot at getting out of the region not as dominant as in some years past but still well represented in the playoffs
