PoppaBearstarr
You are probably correct and I saw their was an abundance of you who said quite whinning, so when we give it back like it was bought no one likes it.
bullets13
The refs were bad... so what? They made bad calls both ways. I've heard griping about a discrepancy in the foul count, and how HJ shot more freethrows. OF chose to slow the ball down and play a very conservative and slow-moving offense. The advantage of this: it keeps the score low, and keeps the hawks from running. The disadvantage: fewer freethrows. I promise you if OF had decided to play at the type of pace the hawks wanted to play, the bobcats would've been to the line much more. Of course, they probably would've lost by 20. I say congrats to the Bobcats coaching staff for finding a gameplan that worked and sticking with it. Being even slightly critical of a coaching staff which led their team to a 2-point loss to the defending state champions (and with a shot to win it at the end, no less) seems pretty silly. I think it's also silly to use the refs as excuses. When the hawk fans did it earlier in the year, they caught tons of grief for it, and by all accounts the officiating there was much worse than in this game. There is no reason for it be excusable now for OF fans to blame the refs. You had your chance to win, and didn't get it done, but you made a damn fine run at it. Be proud of the result, and of your boys, and quit looking for people to blame for the loss. You got beat by a better team, but you sure made things interesting! Lazeek
OH NO!! The sky is falling, the sky is falling! OF almost beat HJ at OF last year too! The sky is falling, the sky is falling!!! What in the world will HJ do?! They have no chance to make a deep run this year, there is no way they'll make it back to state!! The sky is falling, the sky is falling! I'll tell you what, going back and reading past threads sure is quite interesting! WATCH OUT CHICKEN LITTLE!!! :
Guest stevenash
While i agree mostly the players and coaches do effect the outcome of the game, you cant deny that referees can have a great outcome on the game also. If the refs wouldve called the game tighter last night and called more fouls, it wouldve had a great effect on the game. OF wouldve had more free throw attempts, thus giving them more chances to score. And also, the more fouls wouldve possibly put some players in foul trouble, causing the coach to substitute players out of the game that he would normally not take out of the game. And maybe if OF gets in the bonus early in both halves, HJ isnt quite as aggressive on defense or even wouldve changed up the defensive scheme. I agree that every fan is at least a little biased, i know even i have some bias. But i am not a fan who comes home from every game saying the referees screwed us, unlike a lot of fans will do. Honestly, i can say that i cant remember hardly any games where i thought OF got screwed by the officials. I think for the most part they have gotten a fair shake, except for last night. When you are playing in your home gym, you are supposed to get calls, or at least the benefit of the doubt on calls. Maybe its an unwritten rule or just expected, but i've always thought that was the way it is. That is part of the point of having home court advantage i think. Last night we were not given the benefit of many calls at all. If you couldnt see where we were playing at you would seriously think it was another road game, because last night was definitely not a home game... IF the refs would have called more fouls? Don't you really mean "if the refs had called more fouls on HJ"? Everything changes with more fouls for BOTH teams.

Lazeek
Yes it is......I am trying to prove a point that some people believe that HJ is having a down year and that a 5 point win at OF last night proves that. I am showing them that OF is a tough place and a tough team to play against because of matchups, etc. I also highlighted some games two years ago between WOS/OF!!! no-look
Sheesh......this thread is really unbelievable. How does that old saying go? "Better to be thought a fool, than to open your mouth and prove it." Got to be that weak coaching staff over there at HJ. ;D
