Jasperfan Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 I've been listening to the hearing and it sounds to me like Roger may be getting caught up in some lies. I want to believe him, but I can't after listening to the testimony. I was just wondering what everyone's opinion is after today.
KFDM COOP Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 His former Trainer is a Liar to!!!
Guest JoesBros Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 Every ounce of me wants to believe Roger. From what I can tell the main thing that is going against him is what Petitte has said.
Ruckdad Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 Pettitte and KNoblauch both verified McNamee's version of events. It doesn't look good for Clemens.
PURPLE 4EVER Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 His former Trainer is a Liar to!!! He is telling more about the truth than Roger. This is an ugly story that won't ever get disputed (unless McNamee has saved up even more "evidence") Roger admitted his wife did HGH, if you think his wife did it, but not Roger, your sense of reality needs a severe upgrade.
Bulldog92 Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 It's obvious that no one's gonna come out of this looking completely upfront and obvious. There seems to be a lot more holes with Clemens than there are with McNamee, especially after the whole thing about the nanny came out. All indications are that Roger tried to secretly influence her testimony and that tells me that he's got a ton to hide.
TXBaseball Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 Looks like Pettitte is the only one who's told the truth.
PURPLE 4EVER Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 Looks like Pettitte is the only one who's told the truth. That is exactly why Pettite didn't want to testify with Roger. Pettite is too honest of a guy. Will be interesting to see what happens to Roger.
Gabe Posted February 13, 2008 Report Posted February 13, 2008 I have wanted to write a column for the Leader on this all day and I just do not even know where to begin the darn thing! Clemens is a liar I hate to say in a few ways, McNamee is a liar in a few ways and it is not such a black and white issue. This did not solve anything in my mind today. Nothing. If Congress wanted to do something then have someone else up there besides two darn people. The Mitchell Report had over 80 players named and only one, ONE, got called by Congress. I sure am glad my tax dollars are being used in a positive way. I helped them get a ton of ratings today by having just the Icon of pitching on the hill saying the same things we have heard him say for over a month.
Jasperfan Posted February 14, 2008 Author Report Posted February 14, 2008 I agree OLGabe, I really don't know how this was going to help the kids. I thought that was the whole reason Congress got involved. It is now a witchhunt.
Jasperfan Posted February 14, 2008 Author Report Posted February 14, 2008 His former Trainer is a Liar to!!! Everyone involved in this has questionable character. McNamee was involved in illegally acquiring and distributing steroids. With that being said, I could easily believe any one of Roger's arguments. But, when you look at them all as a whole, it just doesn't add up. Do I think McNamee is completely truthful? That is argueable, but his story seems more truthful than Roger's.
KFDM COOP Posted February 14, 2008 Report Posted February 14, 2008 From Oldcoach site Roger Clemens Will get Pardoned According to the internet and McNamee Lawyer Roger Clemens if found guilty for what ever reason will be pardoned by George W Bush.Roger Clemens revealed George W Bush and his Father George Sr are close friends and Clemens even got a call from George Sr. telling him to hang tough and get after them.Clemons was asked where George Sr found him to share his thoughts about the situation and Clemons stated in a deer blind in South Texas Me and the Bush fqmily have been friends for years George Sr attended many Astros games i played in .......WOW NO WONDER CLEMONS is sticking to his denial statements.

If this is true, the pardon is only available for 10 more months.... I wonder how many people Bush will pardon on his way out. Clinton sure did have a huge list of people he pardoned. Will be interesting to see if Bush pardons more than Clinton did.
NedDog Posted February 14, 2008 Report Posted February 14, 2008 I guess I have been living under a rock for far too long. Why is Congress so obsessed with steroid use, filming of opponents, etc.? Why not leave the investigations/punishments up to the organizations that these athletes belong to? Sorry if my questions are stupid, but it seems to me that elected officials would have much more pertinant and relevant issues to deal with that this.

They first got involved to help with the problem in baseball to make sure the problem ended and did not stretch to the youth. I agreed with that because steroids is a national health risk problem and they can help. Its just now they have gotten off that path and are only looking to single out one man. Even George Mitchell said in the report to not dwell on the past and fix the future. Boy did they ever listen.
NedDog Posted February 15, 2008 Report Posted February 15, 2008 Ahhh, I see. I agree, they seem to have gotten way off the original path they set for themselves. :-\
