KFDM COOP Posted February 15, 2008 Report Posted February 15, 2008 Ewing, Olajuwon names as finalists in first year of eligibility SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Hakeem Olajuwon and Patrick Ewing, two of the all-time greatest big men in college and pro basketball history, head the list of finalists for induction into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame. Both were nominated in their first year of eligibility. They are joined by Adrian Dantley, the late Dennis Johnson, Chris Mullin, Don Nelson, Pat Riley, ESPN's Dick Vitale and contributors Victor Bubas and Bill Davidson. The Veteran's Screening Committee nominated player Richie Guerin and contributor Johnny "Red" Kerr. The International Screening Committee tabbled Brazilian coach Togo Soares and player Maciel Ubiratan Pereira. Cathy Rush was nominated by the Women's Screening Committee. Inductees will be announced on April 7. Induction ceremonies are the weekend of Sept. 4-6.
