La Marque head football coach resigns

LA MARQUE — The La Marque school district announced the resignation on Friday morning of athletic director and head football coach Chris Jones.

Jones, who was hired last March after replacing Bryan Erwin, went 9-3 last season and lost in the second round of the Class 4A, Division II playoffs to Lumberton. Jones said he resigned in order to move closer to his wife's family in West Texas.

LMISD will begin the application process for a replacement immediately.

Wonder if there was some pressure here.  LM is one of the better jobs in the state.
