Guest bleed orange Posted February 15, 2008 Report Posted February 15, 2008 That is the only thing bad about winning district. You have a layoff before your next game. The girls played well. Should have beat LaGrange by more. Oliva Wagner had a great game. She did not score many points but she was huge on the boards tonight. Scoring is not everything. It's the little things, like rebounding, steals and assist. Our "TEAM" showed that tonight. I am very proud of you ladies. Everyone did their part and that is why we won the game. At some points in the game we were putting on a clinic. Our girls play defense and that was the key tonight.
Cat22 Posted February 15, 2008 Report Posted February 15, 2008 KK Little had 24 at the half, ended up with 36. Overall girls played well considering they had not played in 10 days. We will need to do a better job of blocking out against Navasota!! Our defense was pretty good tonight. Held LaGrange's leading scorer to 2 points. She had 33 against Stafford on Tuesday. Good Job girls, now take it to the Rattlers!!
KFDM COOP Posted February 15, 2008 Author Report Posted February 15, 2008 Lady Bobcats bruise LaGrange Gabe Pruett The Orange Leader HUMBLE — When LaGrange took its first lead at 7-6 in the first quarter Friday it was easy to think the Orange Lady Bobcats had a game on their hands. So much for that idea. The Lady Bobcats went on a 12-0 run at that point and never looked back to the tune of a 65-35 win in the Class 3A Region III Area Round playoffs at Kingwood Park High School in Humble. The Lady Bobcats will now face Navasota next week as Navasota downed Silsbee 71-53 Friday. LaGrange (24-10) simply had no answer for Orangefield (23-10) senior guard Kaylin Little who poured in a game-high 36 points to go with seven steals, four assists and four rebounds. Little lit up the Lady Leopards for 10 points in the first period and another 14 in the second. "When her offense gets going, her defense then gets going," Orangefield Coach Chris Jost said. "She is just so explosive. LaGrange had no answer for her tonight." Dana Marrs was supposed to be the equalizer for the Lady Leopards yet the Orangefield defense held Marrs to just two points on two free throws, both coming in the fourth period. "We did a great job holding LaGrange's top scorer to just two points on two fourth period free throws," Jost said. "We followed our game plan on stopping her." Allie Beach put in six points for Orangefield while teammate Laura Riddick finished with six and Olivia Wagner added five points. Freshman Marissa Wyatt knocked down a three-pointer in the fourth and finished with five points while Jessica Weldon added four points. Beach and Riddick each had eight rebounds while Wagner snagged seven boards. LaGrange's Katy Scott had a team-high 13 points and 11 rebounds while Whitney Houston added 11 points in the loss. The Lady Bobcats' defense forced the Lady Leopards to 23 turnovers in the contest. Orangefield led 18-7 after the first period and then did not let up in the second before heading to half-time. The Lady Bobcats started the period on a 10-2 run to take a 28-9 advantage before Jasmine Lewis stopped the bleeding with a free throw. LaGrange closed to within 30-12 before Orangefield went on a 8-2 run to finish off the first period. Little had six points in the run as Orangefield led 38-14 at the break. The Lady Leopards did win the third period as Orangefield slowed down a bit after the break. LaGrange outscored Orangefield 10-8 in the third. "We certainly took care of business in the first half," Jost said. "We were scoring off of our defense. You really can't play much better against a playoff team than we did in the first half. I really expected a let up in the second half because of our lead. I can live with first halves like that all the way through the playoffs. Orangefield did finish strong in the fourth period as the Lady Bobcats outscored the Lady Leopards 19-15 in the game's final eight minutes. Each team finished with 34 rebounds in the game.
Gabe Posted February 15, 2008 Report Posted February 15, 2008 Sorry to all the OF fans for putting Orange Lady Bobcats in the first line. I was in a rush and then was having to drive to Victoria right after the game for a funeral on Saturday. Most of you know I even was at the wrong gym for about an hour! Good game tonight Lady Cats. Cya Tuesday
