Guest abovetherim Posted February 15, 2008 Report Posted February 15, 2008 Would Jeremy Granger be related to Jeff Granger?

PoppaBearstarr Posted February 15, 2008 Report Posted February 15, 2008 Congrats OF great job It is hard to play a team back to back and win both. Great Job!

bobcatfan Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 Hate to say it, I called it with a double digit win. Jasper has some great guards, but I don't care what team it is, if you live by the 3 you can die by it. Jasper wasn't quite as hot as in the two previous meetings and once again had no answer for Jeremy. Several other players stepped up as well and played their game. Have to be proud of the OF kids who continue to mature. Much of the time they were playing with 2 sophomores as significant contributors. That being said, the OF fans are unbelievable. On a night when the girls started their playoff run in Houston the Bobcat fans outnumbered Jasper's fans at least 5-1. Bleed Orange tells me that the girls game was the same, about 3-1. Throw in a softball game tonight, and I challenge anyone who can point to another school that supports all of their sports like OF does. Gotta be proud!!! I agree with bobcat4life. If you wouldve seen the OF crowd last night, you wouldve never known there was actually another playoff game going on for that school the same night, the crowd was great. I also agree about Jasper living and dying by the 3, they werent red hot like the previous 2 meeting, in which that was the best 2 shooting nights i'd seen from 2 players. I think Jaspers downfall in this game came down to things. First, they made no adjustments to Jeremy Granger, who killed them for the THIRD time in a row. I was shocked the coach for Jasper really didnt make an adjustment on him like play zone or double the post, but he made no changes... Secondly, they are way too reliant on their 2 best players Bailey and Spikes on offense. Thats just too much pressure on 2 guys to score that much. A lot of players had good nights for the bobcats. Zach Hayes had been struggling the last few games, and he really stepped it up last night, especially when Jeremy was on the bench. Derrick Evans came off the bench and provided some clutch shooting, and Sparks came in and gave good minutes. This was a good momentum builder also for tuesdays game against Coldsprings, the bobcats should be coming into the game with some confidence.
Guest larry mcgee Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 orangefield executed to perfection and came away with a good win...good luck the rest of the way

Cat22 Posted February 16, 2008 Report Posted February 16, 2008 Would Jeremy Granger be related to Jeff Granger? They are not related!
shooter Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 I don't think Jasper's goal is to develop a team of only two players. I watched their coaches in practice I have never seem them only coach Spikes and Bailey. However, every team has recognizable players and when you speak of those teams, you think of those players. While we can talk strategy and all that stuff, to win a championship you must develop a point guard, a true center and have solid role players around them, and have kids that dedicate themselves to a game that has become a year long committment, and have a great fan base. Hats off to Orangefiled players, coaches and that outstanding fan base; you'll have the dynamics in place to make a legitimate run in the playoffs and I think the program is set up for long-term success.
bullets13 Posted February 17, 2008 Report Posted February 17, 2008 This one surprised me... I didn't even try to pick the winner, but i thought the score would be much closer, and that the winner would score in the 50's. Very nice (and convincing) win for the bobcats. With all of the talk about HJ and Silsbee, hopefully you'll be overlooked by some opponents and can show them just how deep your district is. Good luck! I hope to be following an OF playoff run on here during the next couple of weeks.
