hjhawks Posted February 19, 2008 Report Posted February 19, 2008 Way to go Hawks!!!!!!!!! I told yall Humplik would be a beast of a firstbase coach this year!
Central000 Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 from what i heard from my cousin, lumberton completely gave them this game. HJ earned nothing. all five runs they scored were unearned. is that correct?
MWhizzie Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 no a couple of them were but three of them weren't
Kelly Baseball Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 I've never understood the "we gave them the game" comment, when you subsequently see that the team scored only one stinkin' run. I understand maybe a 6-5 loss, when you may have 3 wild pitches and 6 errors that lead to those 6 runs, but at least you scored 5 runs yourself. How can you say that you should've won the game, when you scored 1 RUN?!?! I just don't get it, that's all. ???
raider09 Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 yea but if you go back and look at the books all the runs were unearned, HJ only had about 5 hits, but errors killed the raiders big time
Kelly Baseball Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 R(uns) H(its) E(rrors) Those are the 3 numbers that the Baseball Gods feel are the most important, so that's why they include all 3 of them in the linescore. Maybe if someone starts catching the ball, those first 2 numbers may matter a little bit more.
Central000 Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 lumberton had 4 hits, hj had 5. Hj would have scored 0 runs if it wasn't for errors. according to my cousin, ya'll scored 4 unearned runs in the 5th, and 1 unearned run in the 6th. ya'll had 0 hits in those 2 innings. all runs were scored on errors. and that is from their coach. so even though they only scored 1 run, they STILL gave them the game.
40water Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 Lumberton lost, so lets not make excuses. Good teams find ways to win no matter the caliber of ball they are playing that night, and that is exactly what HJ did.
baseballfan4life Posted February 21, 2008 Report Posted February 21, 2008 What happened to Lumberton's middle infield that night??? Hopefully for Lumberton's sake it was just an off game for them and they will bounce back..Are both middle infielder's new to varsity because that is what it looked like but i wish them luck and hopefully they will bounce back and be ready for district....Look forward to seeing them then
