KFDM COOP Posted February 20, 2008 Report Posted February 20, 2008 kogt The LCM girls soccer team traveled to Hardin-Jefferson on Tuesday and beat the Hawks 2-1. Fourteen minutes into the second half, junior Ellen Williams, one of the team's fastest players, received a pass from freshman Emily Hughes to score from 15 yards out. Hughes then connected on a penalty kick three minutes later to give the Lady Bears a 2-0 lead. The Lady Hawks responded with a forceful offensive effort throughout the second half. The Lady Hawks scored a goal at the 23 minute mark. The Lady Bears' defense, led by juniors Ashley Mayeux and Amber Soileau, was able to preserve the win by shutting out the Lady Hawks for the remainder of the game. The game marked the beginning of the second half of district play for the fourth-place Lady Bears.
