From TexasHoops.com:

Silsbee High School senior standout Almanetta "Ang" Green has decided to stay close to home to play college basketball. The District 21-3A MVP made a verbal commitment to sign with the Lamar Lady Cardinals.

The 5'8" guard said that she chose Lamar over the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. "As soon as I went there, I knew that Lamar was a place I could go and fit in," she said. "It is a great school and I feel really good about."

She is expected to play the point and shooting guard positions for head coach Larry Tidwell's squad.

Another aspect to playing at Lamar that has Green excited is its proximity to Silsbee. "My family and supporters will be able to see me play, and that feels really good," she said.

Green put up impressive numbers this season. She averaged 26.7 points per game as she led Silsbee to a 21-12 record. But what really stands out is that her average jumped up to 29.5 points per contest during district play. She scored more 30 points in seven 21-3A games.

In addition to lighting up the scoreboard, Green hauled in 11.7 rebounds and had 2.7 steals per game.

As a junior, Green garnered recognition from several sources. She was named to the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches and Texas Girls Coaches Association all-state teams, and she was selected to the Beaumont Enterprise-Journal's Super Gold Team.
