BH and Central..BH Adds Coaches

Recommended Posts

BH and Central both get great reviews in Texas Prep Xtra. You have to be a paid member to get all the juicy details - but anyway according to the reviews they should both do very well in their districts.

Can you copy and paste the BH and Central review here?

Barber's Hill Head Coach Dan Price will lead the BH Eagles in to their first ever 4a football season. The Eagles join the new district 21-4a along side with their rivals the Huffman Falcons. BH will be playing some schools that are twice their size, but should have good success in their new district.

Last year Barbers Hill was among the area’s leaders in the offensive and defensive categories. On average they put up a staggering 38 points per game while the defense was stingy, allowing a mere 15 points per game. In total the 2005 version of the Eagles outscored their opponents 418-160. Barbers Hill finished the regular season with a perfect 9-0 mark. They then defeated Hardin-Jefferson in Bi-District 56-14 before falling in the Area Round to Kirbyville 36-34 to finish the season at 10-1. Here are all the scores from last year.

Barbers Hill 41 Anahuac 14

Barbers Hill 42 Vidor 19

Barbers Hill 35 Dickinson 21

Barbers Hill 51 Diboll 0

Barbers Hill 27 Cleveland 6

Barbers Hill 31 Huffman 17

Barbers Hill 20 Splendora 14

Barbers Hill 46 Tarkington 0

Barbers Hill 35 Liberty 19

Barbers Hill 56 Hardin-Jefferson 14

Kirbyville 36 Barbers Hill 34

Barbers Hill shouldn’t have much of a problem making the playoffs in their new district after returning 20 lettermen of off the 2005 23-3a District Champion team. Only four starters return on offense while 10 return of defense.

The Eagle offense should be ready to roll in 2006 as Blake Patton, an all-district selection last year at wide receiver, will take over at quarterback for Patrick Cook. Although Patton didn’t play any QB last year, he did do well at receiver, catching 20 passes for 394 yards and six touchdowns. Patton will have the advantage of having one of the area’s top receivers at his disposal, Mason Fisher. Fisher led the Eagle receiving corps last year after catching 49 balls for 987 yards and 9 touchdowns. Back for his senior year is the other Patton, Todd who will lead the Barbers Hill Rushing attack. Last year’s 23-3a all district running back Patton, rushed for 736 yards and 10 touchdowns while splitting time with Bryan Gilbert. Barbers Hill will rely heavily on these three guys to lead them to what will hopefully be their first 4a district championship.

Defensively, Barbers Hill will be very solid. The defense could turn out to be one of the best in the area. Previously mentioned players Fisher and Patton (Blake), are both two way players and will play some in the secondary this year after pulling down a combined 11 interceptions in 2005. BH also returns last year’s 22-3a Defensive All District MVP in Joe Sexton. Leading the way with Sexton will be a talented defensive line consisting of all district picks Kyle Cox and Cameron Swart.

The Eagles will have a tough non-district schedule to prepare them for their new 4A district. They open the season with a game against Wharton at Pearland on Saturday, September 2. They will then travel to the “Bone Yard†to face the Jasper Bulldogs and will close out the non-district schedule with a home date with 23-3A member Bellville. The district 21-4A championship could very well be on the line in week 9 when Barbers Hill will play host to the C.E. King Panthers. Here is the complete 2006 schedule for the Eagles.
