How much will Lamar give their OC and DC?

Well I was told by a very reliable source that the football budget will not be $1.5 million as I previously posted but $2 million a year. I think with that budget Lamar "could" pay up to $100,000 for each. Especially, if they are grooming one of them to be the next Head Coach.

Food for thought, there is no local HS football coach making over $85,000. There was a list out not too long ago and none of the local coaches were in the Top 50 in the state regarding salary.

It's good to hear that Lamar will be spending about $2 million a year on football.  Here's what the other schools in the SLC spent on football in 2006-2007:

School          Amount (in millions)

Texas State  $2.3

SFA                2.1

Central Ark.      1.9

SeLA              1.9

Nw State        1.7

McNeese          1.6

Sam Houston    1.6

Nicholls State    1.1

I have a feeling that by 2010 Lamar will be spending at least $2.5 million a year on football and will have a total athletic budget over $8 million a year.

Texas State - San Marcos has always outspent the other schools and did not get the results that the other schools have achieved (one playoff appearance in over 20 years of Div I football)...

$100k would probably put Lamar's coordinators at the top of the SLC. There's a few coaches making less than that and I think the top coaching salary in the SLC is UCA -- can't recall, but I think it's $125k-$150k. Think SFA and San Marcos were paying in the $110-125k range for their head coaches.

Well, I defer to Texas Terror here but I can't see Lamar going cheap and landing one of these coaches mentioned in the PA News.
