Guest mffl Posted March 30, 2008 Report Posted March 30, 2008 Probably weren't showing him that much attention anyways, i'll pass on him. His statistics weren't huge and New Mexico Military Institute is a bit off the path on the recruiting trail. But Brandon Rogers still drummed up interest for his point guard skills, and the 6-foot-1, 195-pounder originally from Houston picked up some quality offers. Rogers recently made a decision on his future and it will be one that will take him to the deep South and the SWAC. "I've made a verbal commitment to Alcorn State," Rogers said. "I'm still trying to set up a visit there, but they've been recruiting me for awhile and have been wanting me to come there. I know the coach and you can talk to him - he's genuine and is one of those people that cares. It's a pretty good situation for me to go into, and they're a HBCU and that's what I wanted to be a part of." Rogers selected Alcorn State over offers from Lamar and West Texas A&M, and schools like Central Arkansas and Northern Colorado had also shown some interest. He captured the interest from all these programs with his floor leadership, as he averaged 5.6 points and 2.6 assists this past season at NMMI after averaging 11.3 points and 2.3 assists as a freshman. "My game developed tremendously," Rogers said of his career at NMMI. "My leadership improved, which is very important for a point guard. I had the charisma already, but I developed my skills and other things in my game as Coach (Reggie) Franklin really taught me a lot of things to add to my arsenal. Once I get to the SWAC, I should do pretty good."
Guest coachacola Posted March 30, 2008 Report Posted March 30, 2008 Why is Lamar recruiting these types of players? I figured Coach Roc would be going after more high profile players.
UNLV Posted March 30, 2008 Report Posted March 30, 2008 Why is Lamar recruiting these types of players? I figured Coach Roc would be going after more high profile players. I was thinking the samething.
Guest abovetherim Posted March 30, 2008 Report Posted March 30, 2008 Wow, we need a guy who can SCORE! Thank you for not coming to Lamar. Good luck with Alcorn State.
Bucof2010 Posted March 30, 2008 Report Posted March 30, 2008 Why would any college team want him? Leadership means nothin when your stats are that low. How many seniors graduated from beaumont schools with stats higher than that this year alone?
