KFDM COOP Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 Bulldogs looking to make move in 22-4A race The Port Arthur News Tonight marks the end of the first half for district baseball. The biggest matchup for District 22-4A comes tonight when first place Vidor (6-0) meets second place Little Cypress-Mauriceville (5-1). Also tonight, Port Neches-Groves, which is tied in second with LC-M at 5-1, travels to Dayton (2-4) while the Nederland Bulldogs matchup with the Raiders in Lumberton. Nederland shutout Dayton 5-0 on Friday night to move to 3-3 in league play. The Dogs need a win over Lumberton and will hope for Vidor to continue its unbeaten streak by pulling out a victory over LC-M. Going into tonight's action, Nederland is two games back of the third and final playoff spot. The Dogs travel to Vidor on Friday while the Tribe takes on Ozen at the Reservation. All district contests are set for 7 p.m. A LC-M loss tonight and a win over Vidor on Friday would put Nederland right back in the thick of the district race. On the other hand, two losses this week would pretty much be the end of the Bulldogs hopes for a postseason berth. Memorial, meanwhile, has two road games this week. Both games are set to start at 6:30. The Titans play Humble tonight and Channelview Friday in District 21-5A action. In softball, Nederland and PN-G are still at the top of the District 22-4A pack. The Lady Dogs remained perfect as they took down Vidor on Friday night to move to 8-0. The Lady Indians beat Ozen Friday night and are now at 7-1. It's possible the Lady Tribe will be just a game behind Nederland when Friday's mid-county matchup rolls around. The Lady Dogs won the first contest 4-0 in Nederland. This time the two teams square off in Port Neches. Both teams are in action tonight, however. Nederland will host Central while PN-G has to travel to Mauriceville to play the Lady Bears. The Lady Indians came from behind to beat LC-M 7-6 in their first meeting, which came at the Reservation. If the Tribe can get past the Lady Bears, the stage will be set for Friday's showdown with Nederland.
RonBurgundy68 Posted March 31, 2008 Report Posted March 31, 2008 Since Vidor lost to Ozen, wouldn't that make them 5-1 and put them into a 3-way tie for first with PNG, and LCM? The guy should've done his research... Lol
gastephenson Posted April 1, 2008 Report Posted April 1, 2008 Agrees with aries....whoever wrote that story did not check his stats.
baseballmom2xs Posted April 1, 2008 Report Posted April 1, 2008 I totally agree with this comment. Since Dave Rogers left the PA News the write ups have not been real accurate. I hope they get better. I have met the new reporter and he is a nice guy but homework is part of the business before writing articles.
