Because someone may disagree with my opinion and calls me a basher does not mean I am actually bashing. Just disagreeing with a topic.

I want to commend the moderators for the job they do keeping the negative to a minimum. Bashing coaches and high school athletes is deplorable. I think sometimes people forget that these are 16 and 17 year old high school students. Many are so quick to judge without the benefit of knowing or understanding what goes on day to day in our schools. And on that note, I would like to say thank you to our coaches for all the work they do under very difficult circumstances. It's not your fathers school any more. Education has changed, coaching has changed. There used to be a respect factor that existed when talking about the coaching profession. No more, everyone that can use a key board, is now an expert. We are fortunate to have quality men and women coaches in SE Texas. And I'm not just talking about coaches like Andre Boutte, Todd Southerland, Travis Williams, Carol Sims, and Bob Kellum, their record speaks for itself. I'm talking about every man or woman that basically gives their life to help improve a child's quality of life and maybe prepare that high school student for adulthood Wow, what a Jerry McGuire moment. Please forgive me. I have strong opinion's about the subject. lw

But I do think we need to focus on bashing the moderators, especially when basketball season ends

I disagree, In a perfect world yes the subject should not be brought up. We don't live in a perfect world. Who made the moderators authorities on all subjects. I think as long as it stays constructive, let it go. Again, how can we solve problems if we don't talk about it. I agree you should never bash a kid or a coach and I never have. I know the rules. The media seems to do whatever sells. I guess it was OK for CNN to go to Vidor and find the most redneck person they could to speak on behalf of Vidor Texas. I promise you the people of Vidor do not think the same as that person does. By the way I am not from Vidor. My point is, this message board is no different than the media. Except the media does not care who they hurt, it's all about ratings and money. I believe people on here do care. Some do anyway. It's OK if "Race or Racism" is brought up. Because deep down everyone is a little racist whether they admit it or not. Even the media. I can see if someone gets stupid than delete it. Some conversations are healthy. Let it ride sometimes before you get trigger happy. The only reason I brought up Vidor was because they did not deserve the national attention they got. Vidor has good people and bad just like every other town in the United States. People keep bringing up the 50's and 60's. Well this is 2008 and I promise you racism is not what it was 60 years ago. Not even close.
