team first Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 "sagging" man, is NOT a basketball term...It is a slang for not playing solid defense OR it could be misunderstood by those not trained to have a basketball eye for a match up zone.... sagging man is a slang for help defense. It is not a slang for not playing solid defense. You are sagging off your man to help on the ball. Since we all know that it is the ball we are trying to stop from going in the basket I know what a sagging man stands for, I was being sarcastic to BLUEDOVE...By the way, I never taught a "sagging" man defense, I call it HELP defense...sagging just sounds like a LAZY term, doesn't it? 8) I agree, it should never be called sagging.
BLUEDOVE3 Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 Hey, I'm old school................it's sagging man to man dang it! But true, it sounds like a bunch of lazy old men trying for a comeback at old Hebert High
Guest bleed orange Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 I personally think a zone is "Lazy defense" but you have to adapt to the personal you have on the floor. If you are getting beat inside or you don't have speed than a zone is they way to go. I think coaches should mix up things and do both and I think most do. We all agree College basketball is the best. Last nights game proved that.
