KFDM COOP Posted April 5, 2008 Report Posted April 5, 2008 Bridge City boys win 21-3A tennis title Van Wade The Orange Leader BEAUMONT — A nice cast of Orange County tennis players will represent District 21-3A at the Class 3A Region III Tennis Tournament by posting outstanding performances at the 21-3A Championships on Saturday at Lamar University. Orangefield’s Erin Kelley took home first place in girls singles as she fought off a tough challenge by Bridge City’s Meredith Miller 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 as both standouts qualified for the 3A Region III Meet that will be upcoming in Bryan. The Bridge City mixed doubles team of Shanita Maceda and Devon Armstrong captured the mixed doubles crown by dowing Cardinal teammates Katelyn Reynolds and Kegan Duplechin 7-6 (9-7), 6-1. Orangefield junior Tyler Angelle eartned a regional spot by placing second Saturday as he fell to top-seed Matthew Deaver of Silsbee 6-0, 6-0, The girls doubles champion were Kirbyville’s Jessica Barefield and Rachel Jones while the boys doubles champions were Kirbyville’s Cole Atkinson and Lane Tippett. The Bridge City boys won the first-place team trophy while Kirbyville took home the girls crown.
