McTailGator Posted April 13, 2008 Report Posted April 13, 2008 Here is an updated link to the McNeese Stadium enhancement construction progress web site. This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up I'm sure Lamar's Stadium will soon include a new turf simular to this one too. Just thought I would share. Most of the turf is down, they just need to start stretching it out and gluing it together. The Spring Game is scheduled to be played on the new turf on April 24th. Here is what the finished product will look like: _________________ McNeese University 12 Time SLC Champs & Winner of 5 of the last 7 SLC Football Championships. 1976, 79, 80, 91, 93, 95, 97, 2001, 02, 03, 06, and 2007! All other SLC schools only have 11 combined.

Guest coachacola Posted April 19, 2008 Report Posted April 19, 2008 It looking real good. I wish Lamar would show their plans for Cardinal Stadium soon.
WOS95 Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 that turf field really looks nice. i think its interesting how other than color cardinal stadium and cowboy stadium are shaped almost identical.
McTailGator Posted April 22, 2008 Author Report Posted April 22, 2008 that turf field really looks nice. i think its interesting how other than color cardinal stadium and cowboy stadium are shaped almost identical. Yea, The are pretty close in capacity too. McNeese never recounted after they added the new pres box. Officially we hold 17,410. But then they added the new Sky Ranch/Press Box, which holds around 500 on 4 decks. Unofficially, it will hold about 18,000 once they complete the new filed house in 2009, which will have about 100 seats in a new VIP lounge over looking the north endzone. I think the main difference in Cardinal Stadium and Cowboy Stadium is the angle of the grand stands, Cowboys stadium is a little steeper than Cardinal stadium. That is about it.
McTailGator Posted April 24, 2008 Author Report Posted April 24, 2008 Looks like a brand new stadium! BEFORE (Are right after Rita) AFTER Nice shot from one of the private suites in the SkyRanch
DP#1FAN Posted April 24, 2008 Report Posted April 24, 2008 Very nice! Lamar needs to show something or people are going to feel left out.
McTailGator Posted April 24, 2008 Author Report Posted April 24, 2008 Very nice! Lamar needs to show something or people are going to feel left out. I'm sure Cardinal Stadium will look great once they clean it up, re-paint it, and rebuild the Press Box and Field House. I look forward to coming back to beaumont for a game again. We had a lot of fun there in the past. Cowboy fans are well known for how well we travel, Down Town Beaumont is gonna make a lot of money that weekend. We brought 11,000+ fans to watch our Pokes beat up on City College of Lafayette last September. Here's a Photo, they had to split us up to keep us from making their own fans look bad for not supporting their team. We even had a few hundred or so in the North endzone.
DP#1FAN Posted April 25, 2008 Report Posted April 25, 2008 That is great support! It says alot about the area.
McTailGator Posted May 3, 2008 Author Report Posted May 3, 2008 any new pics to update? McNeese72 has a few here from the Spring Game last week. Once you open the link scroll sown a little until you see the 3 pages of links he has there next to the photo of the guy running with the ball. This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up Here is a link to the Turf Progress page. The last two links show some wide angle shots of the final product. The players simply love it. They got to practice on it once and then they held the annual spring game on it. This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up
AJ25 Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 man that is nice! that is what lamar's HAS to look like. plain and simple.
BIGREDFAN2 Posted May 4, 2008 Report Posted May 4, 2008 That's a really nice stadium, something to be proud of, but am just as impressed with the photography. You must have some nice gear to be able to take those action shots. I envision some white lens. Beautiful photos, it's nice you have a place on the site to show your work.
Guest abovetherim Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 Very nice stadium over there in Lake Charles. I can't wait to see what the football complex in Beaumont will look like!

DOC (McNeese72) is the official photographer of GeauxCowboys.com. He's a McNeese Grad. in 1972 (thus the name), and has a Dental Practice in Sulphur. He's not a professional Photographer, but I think he's probably as good as anyone. And yes he has an impressive amount of Camera equipment. It's his hobby and he's serious about it. He really enjoys it and you can look at his archive and see that he spends a lot of time at all McNeese sporting events.
McTailGator Posted May 5, 2008 Author Report Posted May 5, 2008 Very nice stadium over there in Lake Charles. I can't wait to see what the football complex in Beaumont will look like! I tell you guys what... If any of you want to come over this year for a game or too, just let me know and I will make certain we prepare a little more food at the GeauxCowboys.com tailgate tent. We're well know for feeding our visiting fans and sharing some brew with them over the years. Ya'll are welcome any time. Just post here and let me know which games you want to come and see. I'm sure we can find some available seats in our section too. Come by the Friday evening before any game and start the tailgating with us. We typically have a band playing somewhere. Here is just a small peek of what tailgating at McNeese is like every week. We start Friday nights and usually go untill the wee hours of each Sunday morning after our Saturday night games.
