Jsmity Posted July 27, 2006 Report Posted July 27, 2006 If this is true, this sport is dead to America.
Champion Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 I thought it died when Armstrong left the sport? Much like soccer it will never be an American sprort!
Bread Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 lol you dont think soccer will become an american sport? let me ask you something, how come there are more youth soccer players in america than there are football or basketball or baseball?
Champion Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 How many world cup games did we win? Let me ask you this do you think the best athletes in the USA play soccer. If so we may have the worst in the world. Soccer is and will always be a second rate sport in America. As far as pro I think soccer is right up there with pro Lacross in attendance. Now I am talking about about America (north) not comunist nations and third world counties that beat our best soccer players year in and year out. I think we should hang up our American cleats in this sport. The French beat us and they cant defend their own country!
Bread Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 yes we didnt win any world cup games this year, and i'll give you 3 athletes who play soccer that are some of the best in the nation: Damarcus Beasley, Landon Donovan, and Oguchi Onyewu. Enough said.... Now hanging up our cleats in this sport? Are you kidding me? Many people's lives in this country revolve around soccer, as do most people's revolve around football/basketball/baseball, and plus the pro version has only been around for about 10 years, so how would you know if it doesn't get as good of fan support as other sports? As far as you know, it could become one of the most popular sports in the country in the next 10-20 years..... And by the way, Do you consider Italy and the Czech Republic communist nations? As far as i know they aren't...... And another one, France lost in the championship game and how does a countrie's soccer team relate to its military? Thats the most ludacris thing i've ever heard....... Oh and one more, we haven't played France in about 10 years, so get your facts straight........

Boy your lumping a lot of countries into 3rd world countries and communistic countries. Most of Americas good to great soccor players play either in the German Bundesleager or some other European league because of the mass attendance and the better pay....Go to England Chashire stadium and watch over 200,000 fans go nuts and last time I looked England was not a 3rd world country.....I love football (HS and College) pros have become money hungry and whinners. But you cant say soccer will not catch on....even here in Texas our summer soccer camps are attracting more players than the football camps...why...some kids are just not able to play football, and more kids are able to kick the soccerball around even if they arent able to lift 200 lbs or run a 40 in 4.3. But they can run back and forth for 90 min at a time...takes some stamina to do that...many years ago we wouldnt have this conversation because there were no soccer heros or camps.....whats going to happen in the next 10 or 20 years? man I rambled on that one didnt I...
Jsmity Posted July 29, 2006 Report Posted July 29, 2006 Wow. So first let me start off by saying that some people just arent born smart and theres nothing any of us can do about it, like Champion. Obviously someones a little pissed off that they cant play a sport that requires creativity, athletecism, speed, agility, physicalness, and at times brilliance. Tisk, Tisk, Tisk............... Maybe we should see a Psychologist about our little issue of self confidence, huh Champion???
Bread Posted July 30, 2006 Report Posted July 30, 2006 finally someone backs me up...... i agree 157% with both of you.......
