Reports: Rose will declare for NBA draft this week

The Commercial Appeal and WPTY-TV both cited sources close to the Memphis program in reporting that Rose, who averaged 14.9 points and 4.7 assists per game in the regular season and 20.8 points in six NCAA tournament games, would declare his intent to enter the draft. the Tigers finished national runners-up to Kansas.

WPTY and cable news channel CNBC also reported that Rose is close to signing with agent Arn Tellem. When asked about the possibility of signing Rose, Tellem's agency, Wasserman Media Group, declined to comment, according to WPTY's report.

Remember another Memphis kid that choked at the FT line in the NCAA tourney? DARIUS WASHINGTON, JR.? Where is he today? NBDL? Overseas? Rose had better stay just ONE MORE SEASON....Redemption is very necessary...very...He can play, but that one choke act COULD define his NBA career or lack there of...

Yeah, but after you make that first contract worth about 1.2 million over 3 years and you live this lavish NBA lifestyle (which most of them do) pay your flunkies, family members, by cars, jewelry, houses, etc., that money goes REAL FAST...How about some longevity?

Oh I agree dont get me wrong. But when someone throws money in these young kids faces with the contract and sponsors, its an easy choice for them to make sometimes

Yeah...These guys need GUIDANCE, not "ADVISORS"! 8)

Advisors say the things they say because - they end up rich too ;)

It needs to come from the NCAA and the NBA somehow saying enough is enough and setting the age limit higher. It would only make both sides have more competitive games. It is hard to root for college teams at times because the faces change so much from year to year. I bet KSU fans with Beasley and UCLA fans with Rose barely care about this because they barely got to know those players. Its a shame really

AMEN, brother!! AMEN! 8)...I have BEEN saying that for YEARS! It takes away from the college game..How good would the NCAA tourney have been this year with Durant, Oden, Conley Jr., Green, etc., in the fold...WOW!

Not only them, think of LaMarcus Aldridge still at UT with Durant and Augustine OR even better - UNC with those freshmen who won the title and all went NBA.

Hansbrough would have been the Top 6th Man in the NCAA and not Player of the Year.

Im only 28 years old, as of today actually, and I even miss the old days. Sad huh?

Happy Birthday, dude! ;D I am not much older, at 33, and I REALLY miss the "old" days of players of the year actually being a junior or senior! You almost have to recruit players knowing you may lose them in a year or two! Something has to be done about it, and listening to David Stern (NBA Commish) and Myles Brand (NCAA pres) they are in agreement about that, so I look forward to change in that aspect.

Probably miss the old days of players injuring themselves and unable to realize their dream of playing in the league . Also if you are able to do a job as well as anyone else you should have equal opportunity to fill it. College makes millions off these kids why not let them make their millions .It does bring down the college game but who cares the minute the athlete is injured and not a star they ship them home when tutoring no longer available 4 students who probably wouldn't be there if they could go pro. The next issue economic empowerment allowing these players to provide for themselves and families w/o taking back door deals from boosters and agents who charge loan shark  rates. After all you only have be 18 to go to Iraq.

Boy, how are you going to compare going to the NBA to going to war in Iraq???? I really wonder about you sometimes, dude... ::)...What about more of these kids earning their college degrees so that in the event they can't play one day, they can have an opportunity to earn a living? NBA money will eventually run out too, ya know...How about educating these kids to the point where when they make all of this money, they are mature enough to really know how to make it last? Iraq.... ::)

Less than 3% of the entire US population will be millionaires, BUT there are some who have made millions AND LOST IT ALL...Now which would you rather be?...a BROKE former millionaire, or a working class thosandaire that has made good choices with his resources? No brainer.

???Something tells me if you were in that situation you'd be in the Draft . huh? I never compared the Iraq to the  NBA I simply was saying everyone deserves the same opportunity and that's a form of age discrimination .

So I guess every 17 year old should sue the govt. for age disrimination as well?...After all you cant drink until you are 21 and smoke legally until you're 18...Its in the best interest of those involved...sound familiar? It is VERY difficult to turn young kids loose with that kind of money and say, "you dont go anything dumb or stupid, ya hear?"...I am for teaching these youngsters how to be responsible during the college years (all four of em) THEN see how they handle real life...Sounds sensible to me...lots others too...except those who stand to profit RIGHT NOW off of these youngsters then watch them fail later in life because they are not prepared to handle things properly...There is a PROCESS for EVERY profession...EXCEPT for in the NBA, and MLB (NFL has the best policy regarding this, I hate to admit)...something is wrong with that picture. very wrong.

Dickie V if i didnt know any better, i would think you where a genius.  :D But seriously i could not agree more with you on this topic. If they where really there for the kids, then it would be the same as football. I understand why the kids go at the young age, you cant turn down the money. We just have to hope that they have had good role models (like perkins had) so they can stay the course and not just blow their money, and then have no education to fall back on.

So Dv are you telling me that it takes more maturity to go to NBA or any other sports than to fight for our Country ? Also most people aren't physically able to play in NFL straight out of highschool. Some of our countries most successfull people didn't go to college . I for one am for education . Seriously lets see who this rule affects .not tennis players or golfer or baseball wonder why ????????????????? ??? ???

Dude....Think about what you are asking...the military FORCES you to be disciplined....Those that make it to the NBA are given riches and told to go play ball! Try again, bro.... ::)
