king Posted April 16, 2008 Report Posted April 16, 2008 I vote Bryon scott. Im suprised Eddie Jordan was not mentioned without Caron butler, and Gilbert Arenas they were still in the playoff mix.
Guest DickVitale Posted April 16, 2008 Report Posted April 16, 2008 Doc Rivers, all day....That team had the biggest turnaround in NBA history...Yes they aquired some help in KG, but NO ONE expected it to turn around THIS fast...
king Posted April 16, 2008 Author Report Posted April 16, 2008 Yeah that is true they also have great help from Role players such as Rondo, Perkins, Posey, and House
Guest DickVitale Posted April 16, 2008 Report Posted April 16, 2008 That's MORE so why I say Doc...He was instrumental in putting and keeping that core group together..Danny Ainge is the GM, but Doc was DEFINITELY in on the decision making process...He is the coach of the year..
BMTSoulja1 Posted April 16, 2008 Report Posted April 16, 2008 Doc, hands down! That team is a machine with great superstars, role players and bench. They have taken his system and ran with it. This one isn't even an argument.
bullets13 Posted April 16, 2008 Report Posted April 16, 2008 Rivers... it doesn't take a good coach to win with that much talent on the floor, but it takes a great coach to keep that many superstars happy at the same time.Â
BMTSoulja1 Posted April 16, 2008 Report Posted April 16, 2008 I'm not buying into that, Bullets. This isn't high school or college. These are pros. You have to be able to coach in this league to be successful like how the Celtics are.

Don't misunderstand me... I agree with you 100%. Let me rephrase: Any NBA coach would be able to win some games with this team, but Rivers has gotten the full potential out of his players, and kept the egos of several superstars in check while he did it.Â
THEBRAIN Posted April 16, 2008 Report Posted April 16, 2008 Byron Scott has to win easily Rivers had so much talent in a weak east all he could do is win.
Guest DickVitale Posted April 16, 2008 Report Posted April 16, 2008 So I guess Mo Cheeks should have been coach of the year in 2000 with the Portland TrailBlazers right? They had THE most talent in the league from top to bottom...You have to be able to cultivate talent into a winner...Byron Scott HAS done a great job, but Doc Rivers turned a team around in ONE year and helped to make valuable off season moves OTHER than the KG deal. KG has been in the league for 13 years and has NEVER played on a team this good...COACHING...Flip Saunders shows how you can be on the OTHER end of that spectrum...He had him in Minnesota..Then inherits a loaded Detroit squad...No titles...Doc has got it done in Beantown, bro!
THEBRAIN Posted April 16, 2008 Report Posted April 16, 2008 2or 3 possible HOfamers are on the Celtics name that many on the hornets.
Guest DickVitale Posted April 16, 2008 Report Posted April 16, 2008 Again you missed my point...The Celtics have a great tandem of players...BUT, so did Portland in 2000! YOU HAVE TO BE ABLE TO COACH TALENT, TOO! Are the Celtics BETTER than the Hornets? Since you wanna compare apples to Oranges...YES...(in case you lost your mind and forgot )

Well said!
THEBRAIN Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 No you actually made my arguement D.Rivers had as much talent as Byron Scott did this year look at the results . And the Hornets are in the west Not the weak east .
The dirty doody Posted April 17, 2008 Report Posted April 17, 2008 Doc Rivers........i wouldnt have a problem with Bryon Scott winning it
THEBRAIN Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 ESPN reporting that BYron Scott won coach of the year . Did more with less yall said DOC i said too much talent in weak conference >HEy if they wanted to give it to someone that merely manages talent give it to PHIL JACKSON .HA HA HA HA HA HA
THEBRAIN Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 Where is Dickie V and all of his followers told you so .LOL LOL 8) I'm a beast
Guest DickVitale Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 You probably thought Dirk Nowitzky should have been MVP last year too, huh? Congrats to Byron Scott, he did a great job with that team....From being FIRED in New Jersey, to NBA coach of the year....Chris Paul must have made him a smarter coach!! ;D
