bobcatfan Posted April 16, 2008 Report Posted April 16, 2008 Based on the early season struggles of the bullpen, i thought this would be an interesting question for yall. Lidge, Qualls, Sarfate, was our best bullpen options at the end of last season and Ed Wade overhauled the team and gave us Valverde, Brocail, Geary (Villareal). After what you've seen so far early in the season, are you wishing we had the old trio or are you still glad we got the new guys?
Interested Observer Posted April 16, 2008 Report Posted April 16, 2008 I would rather have Lidge, Wheeler and Qualls
cardinalcc Posted April 16, 2008 Report Posted April 16, 2008 I would rather have Lidge and Qualls at the end of the game instead of Valverde and Villareal/Brocail. There is just something with Valverde that I don't quite like.
bullets13 Posted April 16, 2008 Report Posted April 16, 2008 Brocail came on and got a save tonight... and Roy O finally looked pretty good!
AJ25 Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 i think it's still a little early to decide. but i'd rather lidge if i had to choose. i'd rather wagner about ALL of them. lol
WHBaseball14 Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 How bout the bullpen from the 2003 season the pitched the six pitcher no hitter? It had roy o-starting pitcher, brad lidge, kirk saarloos, pete munro, billy wagner, and octavio dotel. what about that?
bullets13 Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 i think it's just something about wearing the Astros uniform. Lidge's stats this year: 11 IP, 12 K, 0.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 6/6 on saves Qualls' stats this year: 14.2 IP, 14 K, 0.00 ERA, 0.89 WHIP, 1/2 on saves, 8/8 on holds Wheeler's stats this year: 13 IP, 7 K, 1.38 ERA, 0.62 WHIP, 5/7 on holds Valverde this year: 12 IP, 15 K, 7.50 ERA, 1.92 WHIP, 4/7 on saves Valverde last year: 64.1 IP, 78 K, 2.66 ERA, .95 WHIP, 47/54 on saves
Gabe Posted April 29, 2008 Report Posted April 29, 2008 Ahh the list grows of players who were Astros going on to become stars somewhere else.
cardinals4life Posted May 26, 2008 Report Posted May 26, 2008 maybe just all those other teams have alot better coaching than the astros
