J' COVAN BROWN MORE PROBLEMS?

Observations from another top hoops website re PAM's J'Covan Brown performance at the Kingwood Classic, T-H-E showcase for the dozens of D1 coaches on site.....

"What is wrong with PAM's J' Covan Brown? Well, he was super for a little over a half on Saturday night, 27 points in about 14 minutes of action before old problems surfaced. It ended with 2 Techs, an ejection, and a police escort out of the building for him and one of his entourage. No sign of any UT assistants or Rick Barnes at his game. Kansas State was at the game. Strange that UT assistant Russell Springman would not have been there as he was seen earlier Saturday at the main gym watching action. We look for a parting of J'Covan and UT if there has not already been there. A couple of sources say there was never going to be a way for Brown to be at UT. We will see."

He can't play at kingwood.  He is a senior and not allowed to play summer AAU ball! :-\

And I watched the Hoops so who did he play with...  Your source is false my friend.  No coach will allow his incoming player to play a pick-up game in aa AAU tournament where J. Brown would have to show a birth certificate to show that he is under 17!!!!!!

I found this on the Kingwood rule page:

Girls & Boys Unsigned Seniors: [glow=red,2,300]Unsigned seniors can play as long as they have not committed in writing to play for a college at any level.[/glow]

Unsigned prep school players are also eligible to play in our tournaments. If a player has signed a letter of intent and you think they won't qualify because of grades, they still cannot play.

This is a big statement and may be the proving point that J. Brown will never suit up for UT!!!!   This kid has went from fame to shame... D@amn crying shame!!

By him playing in the event is a CLEAR indication that UT has quietly withdrawn their offer to him. QUIETLY, probably as a courtesy to Brown and his future recruitment.  I hope that all other prospects as well as Brown himself can learn a valuable lesson...I don't think J'Covan gets it though...Police escort? After ALL you have been through? Police escort off of the court, out of the building? Where was his dad? pitiful....

If all of this was said about a coach, the thread would be removed because it would be deemed bashing...

Is the whole situation sad.... yes it is, but leave the dang kid alone!

You know what...HJ is right....he is a kid with some issues...Lets just hope for the best for him, and leave it at that....

Is he good enough to be a real threat at the college level?

Yes he is that good!!!  Vision, handles, shooting, bbal knowledge and competitive edge... All that is required to be a great player.  But he also has a bad attitude and makes bad life decisions, which is all that is required to damage his career.

And this thread is not bashing it is stating the truth.  No one said anything about the kid or bashed him...  Everyone that has replied has only said it was a shame.

It's really a shame. All that talent, probably will be wasted unless something drastic happens with this kid's attitude and mental capacity. Like DickV said, he just don't get it! Also correct in stating that UT isn't offering anymore, got that from a very reliable source. Word is that lot's of the bigger schools are backing away from Brown, but some of the smaller one's are still inquiring.

I agree, I don't consider this bashing.

I don't see it as bashing either.  I hope he learns to deal with emotion and decision making for practical reasons and not just sports.  Rash behavior has led a lot of otherwise good kids to trouble.  This is also a lesson for us adults to not forget our responsibilities.  We are sometimes tempted to look the other way  because a kid is talented instead of nipping the attitude early on.  I remember a kid obviously taunting and trying to incite a fight during a game.  His mother stated, "That's just the way he plays."  Let's not excuse poor behavior but correct it.  It's more important to be a good person than a good athlete.

Memphis will be all over him>>>>Hee Hee..No seriously, this is kind of the way it happens..Dad does not have athletic background, all he sees is an unreal talent and has not been able to direct him and the situation is out of control.

The kid may end up as being the saddest story to ever come through our area.

the kid has a good side to him, but I believe this is another story of a kid getting too much attention early in his career, and nobody around for guidance and humility...seems like the behavior never ends!

The comments about how a father raises his son are out of line!  I spent many nights at their house, and personally witnessed Johnny Ray being a great father!  Come on guys.... find something else to gripe about instead of this young fella!  The economy is bad, oil prices are high, etc....  There are plenty of relevant things to talk about....

I do agree with the post about Memphis....I am sure Lamar is sniffing around PA now....

I apologize... I went too far with the comments about his father!  I feel sad for the kid still!
