AJ25 Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 There will not be a vote for bonds. Lamar is using the bonds to pay for the renovations of the football facilities and the student fee which already passed will be used to finance the complex. Except for the 1/4 Lamar must have in private funding. Let's say Lamar is spending $20 million, they would need $5 million in private donations. so when will constuction start on all this?
Guest coachacola Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 According to one of the articles in the Beaumont Enterprise, Lamar will go before the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board this month to have an architect approved. After that's done they'll accept bids and hopefully get started this summer. The longer they wait the more it's going to cost. My guess it'll be Leo A. Daly, who did the draft proposal and already have a bid in (according to the article), and they did work on the Sheila Umphrey Recreational Sports Center.
