Of the more than $46 million already raised, here's where the money has been earmarked:

$22.4 million for academic support;

$11.4 million for scholarship endowments;

$3.4 million for athletics;

$4 million for "a variety of other designations;" and

$5 million is undesignated.

Simmons and others did not say exactly how much of the $46 million has already been committed; in other words, it's unclear if the current mark includes money that was already spent toward recently completed projects, such as the Sheila Umphrey Recreational Sports Center or post-hurricane renovations to Vincent-Beck Stadium.

In addition to placing an emphasis on obvious targets, such as scholarships and endowments, the campaign also seeks private investment in several multi-disciplinary programs, such as a center for faculty development and research; nursing programs; speech, language and hearing development disorders; and the library.

The campaign also includes an emphasis on buildings, including the creation of a new alumni center; renovation of Vincent-Beck Stadium and renovation of Cardinal Stadium, according to a statement from the university.
