KFDM COOP Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 Rain forces tournament date to be changed May 5, 2008 BEAUMONT - The 2008 Lady Cardinal Golf Tournament benefiting the Lamar University women's basketball program, originally scheduled for Monday May 5, has been rescheduled due to rain, and will be played next Monday, May 12 at Brentwood Country Club. The format is a four-person scramble with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided at 11:30 a.m. In case of rain, all entry fees will be donated to Lamar Women's Basketball, and each participant will receive a coupon for a free round of golf at Brentwood Country Club. The entry fee is $500 per team and includes green fees, cart, lunch, and drinks on the course. Prizes will be awarded to the top teams and every player will receive a tournament gift. The tournament will also include a male and female longest drive contest, four closest-to-the pin contests, and a hole-in-one contest sponsored by Philpot Motors. "The sole purpose is to raise funds in order for the Lady Cardinal Basketball team to attend summer school sessions," said Head Coach Larry Tidwell. "Summer school serves a duel purpose as it enables our team to advance academically towards graduation and gives them the opportunity to improve their GPA. With David Ess, Johnny Montagne, and Greg Hulet organizing and directing the tournament, we expect it to be a huge success with Fun, Food, and Fellowship."
