We usually go out there later in the year than this, and catch nice reds and specs real early like before seven then we fish back in the marsh as it heats up later in the day we catch some black drum.

Yeah, I usually fish down there later in the summer as well.  In fact, I've never been down there before school is out for the summer(I'm a teacher).  I was just curious if there was any decent fishing this time of year.  Thanks for the reply.

Fished the Bessie Heights cut on Thursday.  A couple of boats landed quite a few nice trout using shad.  All I had was artificial bait and some live mullet.  The folks in the other boats said that lately all the trout want is live shad.

I did have some luck with some good redfish on the live mullett.

Went Friday and really caught the reds back up in the marsh.  Had a 3 person limit in bout 45 mins and even did a little culling.

What'd you catch them on? And what time?

BIG Shad!  Mullet were good too, but the shad were the trick.  2-3pm(At least I think that was about the time.)  Too busy having fun to really look a the time.  All I know is that we left the trout hole at about 1:30 and got bck to the ramp at about 3:45.  Needless to say the fishing was terrific all day.  30 trout and 9 reds!!!
