This seems to be a never ending debate, so I took some time and looked up the usta rankings of all the boys singles finalists. For this year, at least, we can let the numbers speak for themselves.

2A- #12 S18 d.  #81 S18

3A-  #204 S18 d. #141 S18

4A- #15 S18 d. #41 S16

5A- #10 S18 d. #156 S18 

The 2nd place kid in 5A is a bit misleading. He just moved from Louisiana and has only played 1 tournament.
