Isaac Tijerina 8-1, 1.65 ERA, 63 K's

Weston Heiligman 8-1, 1.04 ERA, 40 K's

Beat Bandera in Regional Quarterfinals 3-2, 7-1

Beat Cuero in Regional Semifinals 13-9,5-4

Beat Sinton in Regional Finals 7-2, 10-7

Notes:  Medina Valley has a potent offense with five players at .400 or better.  They have scored 69 runs in eight playoff games.  Zach Dodson leads all 3A players with 0.58 ERA.  Medina Valley has been the #1 ranked team since early March in both the THSBCA and the 3ABASEBALL.COM polls.  They lead all 3A teams with 38 wins this year.  Medina Valley will move to 4A next year.

Pleasant Grove Hawks

Region II Champion out of 16-3A

Head Coach:  Craig Jones

Record:  24-7; 7-1 (District Champion)

Top Pitcher

Michael Wacha, Jr 12-2

Top Hitters

Logan Ashby, Jr

Jake Rogers, Sr

Michael Morriss, Sr

Playoff Run

Beat Kemp in Area Round 2-0, 10-2

Beat Bullard in Regional Quarterfinals 1-0

Beat Kennedale in Regional Semifinals 10-0

Beat Pittsburg in Regional Finals 7-1

Notes:  Michael Wacha has given up only one run in four playoff games.  It is hard to say who the #2 pitcher would be for Pleasant Grove.  Sophomore Jon Phillips came in to finish the regional final game against PIttsburg.  The Hawks have outscored their playoff opponets 30-3.  Pleasant Grove is a good defensive team led by Catcher Michael Morriss.  Pleasant Grove defeated district rival Pittsburg in the Regional Final game.  This is the third year in a row that a 3A team from Texarkana has made it to the state playoffs (Liberty-Eylau made it in '06 and '07).

Game 2:  SNYDER VS. HUTTO, 3:00 PM

Snyder Tigers

Region I Champion out of 3-3A

Head Coach:  Charles Bollinger (6th Year)

Record:  33-6; 8-1 (District Champion)

Bollinger, .397 Avg, 6 HRs, 31 RBIs

Riley Davis, Jr .386 Avg, 7 HRs, 39 RBIs

Playoff Run

Beat Presidio in Area Round 8-0, 7-1

Beat Levelland in Regional Quarterfinals 11-0, 7-1

Beat Canyon in Regional Semifinals 4-3, 8-4

Beat Lubbock Cooper in Regional Final 5-2

Notes:  This is Snyder's first trip to Baseball State Tournament since 1986.  In 1983, Snyder won the AAAA state championship and present Head Coach Charles Bollinger was the winning pitcher in that championship game.  Coach Bollinger's son Brent, is a Senior P/SS on this year's team.  Snyder has won 19/21 games and has not lost a game in the playoffs.  Murdock's 13 HRs leads all 3A players.

Hutto Hippos

Region III Champion out of 18-3A

Record: 27-7; 5-3 (District Runner Up)

Top Pitchers

Chris Thomison, Sr  7-4, 2.09 ERA, 87 K's

Brett Higginbotham Jr 8-1, 58 K's, 2.21 ERA

Top Hitters

Garrett Carey Sr  .446 Avg, 39 RBIs

John Cannon Sr  .413 Avg, 33 RBIs

Playoff Run

Beat Gatesville in Bi-District 11-0, 8-1

Beat Groesbeck in Area Round 4-1, 2-0

Beat Carthage in Regional Quarterfinals 3-0, 10-5

Beat Jasper in Regional Semifinals 5-2, 1-4, 8-0

Beat Taylor in Regional Finals 5-1, 5-6, 6-0

Notes:  Hutto's pitching is their strength, throwing 5 shut outs and 3 one run games in the playoffs.  Four pitchers can be effective for them - Chris Thomison, Garret Carey, Brett Higginbotham, and Catcher John Cannon.  Hutto came out of 18-3A which may have been the toughest district this year with four of the teams in the Top 20 at some point this year.  Hutto had to beat district rival Taylor in the Regional Finals.  Hutto will move to 4A next year.

STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME:  Thursday, June 5 @ Disch-Falk Field, 12:00 PM
