football Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 If you want to se impressive individual performances look at 5a boys: Rowlett and 1A girls: the team champion in 1A girls only had ONE participant and she is either a junior or a soph. By the way Goodwin from rowlett is a junior.
bmtdc1996 Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 Youare so right Football. The one girl from Rochelle (1A school) was First in the high jump and 200, Second in the Long jump and 100, Third in the discus! One woman wrecking crew! Very impressive in this state where relays rule the team championships! Way to go young lady named Bonny Richardson!
cardinalcc Posted May 13, 2008 Report Posted May 13, 2008 I think if she enjoys track enough and continues to work hard, she would be a very good heptathlete at any college she wanted to go to.
football Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 I went to the school website to find out her class. She is a junior class officer. They even had her picture.
bmtdc1996 Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 Spoken like a true track person CardinalCC (coming from a former track coach!). As soon as I saw the results Heptathlon jumped out in my mind too. If she's a junior all I can say is WOW if she keeps up the work.
cardinalcc Posted May 14, 2008 Report Posted May 14, 2008 Well I always thought it would be cool to do a decathlon, thats what clicked with the events I saw she did, but I am horrible at field events(So I stick with distance running. I would like to try the steeple chase someday though). Here are the events that are in the Heptathlon for women in college, she would do very well with a little help if she decides to do this: 100m Hurdles High Jump- she jumped 5'5 Shot Put 200m Dash- ran a 25.03 Long Jump- she jumped 18'7 Javelin Throw 800m Run She also threw disc 121' and ran a 12.19 in 100m
bmtdc1996 Posted May 15, 2008 Report Posted May 15, 2008 I am a former decathlete (athough not a great one) so i am always into the multis. She definitely has the tools to progress and with her being just a junior she has plenty of time. Her story has been all over the news papers across the US. How about those Rowlette boys. They have several studs!
football Posted May 15, 2008 Report Posted May 15, 2008 Goodwin had to be high point for all of the boys. He is also just a junior. 26' long jump and 50' triple!!!! Just his individual points(28) would have placed him 4th in the team standings. Add in his share of the relay points:8 and he jumps to third!
Baller3 Posted October 14, 2008 Report Posted October 14, 2008 A'Lexus Brannon Ozen Sophomore 08 won the 4A Gold Medal in the girl's triple jump 40ft 4inches, 20 ft. long jump, and 13.93 for fourth place in 100meter hurdles. Two Gold medals at state for this talented athlete! 24 total points.
