KFDM COOP Posted August 2, 2006 Report Posted August 2, 2006 Alou Saying Barry's Bat Speed Diminishing Giant manager Felipe Alou is saying that barry's bat speed is diminishing from what it has been and that he has noticed this drop off by his slugger. Alou says that barry's pitch recognition is not what it has been and that he (Alou) has definitely noticed this. "I don't see the recognition of piches the way he is accustomed to," Alou said. "you didn't ever see barry taking strikes without being ready to swing the bat. And he is swinging at some bad pitches. We're not used to seeing that." With a season's batting average of .244 and a Slugging Percentage of .489 I think Alou is correct in his observation. The . 244 this season has dropped barry's lifetime average down to .299.
