Stockton Skills and Drills Camp

Twin County Youth Baseball is holding the 2nd annual Stockton Skills and Drills Baseball camp. Last years camp was a success, and this year we are looking for even better turnouts from the surrounding area ballplayers. The camp will be conducted by Chris Inman. Chris is currently coaching at St. Thomas High school. Chris has been a part of Skills and Drills for 8yrs. The camp will be held at Twin County Youth Baseball park in Sour Lake, Texas - 9:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. June 16-20. Camp cost is $150 before May 29 and $165 after May 29. Just out of curiousity, how successful was this camp last year?  It was pushed hard @ the closing ceremonies for all the different divisions of Twin County Youth Baseball last year, but after talking to a few of the parents whose kids actually attended, it wasn't quite as popular as advertised.  I thought Derrick was away @ college.

the camp was very successful last year. 85 kids showed up and we are getting calls from other leagues about the camp. The camp is a learning tool, a fundamentals camp. The camp was established by Bragg Stockton in the early 90's and is still running strong, making camp stops throughout the summer. So we are doing something right.

I was thinking it was you, but wasn't sure if you wanted your identity revealed.  I wasn't at the camp last year, but my previous reply was based on some parents comments to me on how it went; just being objective.  I'm not sure why these parents felt they needed to come to me with this info, but being a previous board member & coach, I guess they felt I needed to be in the know.  I was planning on signing myself & my boys up for this camp when I first moved out here, but unfortunately, that was the same year Mr. Stockton passed away & the camp was put on hold for a couple of years.  Personally, I wouldn't invite other leagues over - Twin County needs all the help they can get, especially this year, when it comes to our All-Star teams getting out of this area.  HA!!!

I played one of your PONY teams last night and will be playing the other for the city championship tournament when we get the time and date set and from the outside looking in you guys out there in Sour Lake are in good hands for the future.  You got some outstanding talent in your program and not to mention a great group of young men.  As one of the coaches in Vidor that has had the opportunity to play against you guys this season it was a pleasure.  You will be seeing my three boys out at your camp this year.  Great job! ;D

sounds like a money maker for twin county or some people.that's alot of money for a 6 hour camp.people would come out alot cheaper by buying the stockton skills & drills book and teaching it to their kids themselves.seems like pony baseball is more about making money than giving your time and knowledge to the kids for free?i'd be rich if i charged pony prices for the time and skills and drills i've taught kids over the years.all of the pro,college& high school players work our league camps for free,that's how it should be done.

Once again someone running their mouth, who doesn't know anything about the subject. TC is a host field. Skills and Drills is nationally known. Come on. It's a fundamentals camp. You won't receive any autographs or take pics with the coaches, but if you come to learn...you will leave the camp with a training tool used by colleges and the pros. Come and try it before you bring it down!!!

And the camp is not for 6 hours...it's six hours a day for five days...thats a good deal!!!

How can you come here and bash a camp that has helped more than a few kids in our area not to mention 100s in the Houston area not to mention it was started by 1 of the most respected coaches that has ever picked up a Baseball. Since you brought up money...by the tape and teach 'Brags way' yourself and get rich but don't complain at the finished product. As far as Sour Lake being the host field, the reason is, Coach Bragg and his crew was welcomed in SL 15+ yrs back.

What are the ages for this camp?  We have an 8yr old son who played in Kountze Little League this year (machine pitch).  He has started to show signs of being a great little ball player.  He improved 200% from last year and wants to pitch next year when he moves up to minors.  He played pitchers mound this year and can already back up first base and home.  Hubby is also looking maybe a fall league for him to play in.
