InTheGates Posted May 19, 2008 Report Posted May 19, 2008 What is Woodard known for on the offense and defensive side?
KFDM COOP Posted May 19, 2008 Report Posted May 19, 2008 WB Bear He said that he likes to go multiple on both sides of the ball. Mix it up, 3 wide, 4 wide, go to the I etc. he said they will adjust to the talent.
InTheGates Posted May 19, 2008 Author Report Posted May 19, 2008 I am glad to hear they have someone willing to adjust with the talent level they will be able to recruit....I know everyone has base things they like, but hopefully we will see some decent recruits come through...I still believe putting together a coaching staff that can "recruit" will be tough but key to moving the program forward...
Tiger90 Posted May 19, 2008 Report Posted May 19, 2008 With him being a Woodard are we going to see the old veer? Had to throw a Silsbee reference in there. ;D
AggiesAreWe Posted May 19, 2008 Report Posted May 19, 2008 With him being a Woodard are we going to see the old veer? Had to throw a Silsbee reference in there. ;D Actually, Tiger90, the McGallion's are the veer. Charlie ran a multiple set, mostly pro set and I formation with a hint of the veer.
Tiger90 Posted May 20, 2008 Report Posted May 20, 2008 Charlie loved the option whatever you want to call it. I remember one time against New Caney they had only 1 db covering the 2 wrs on the left side. They loaded the box and dared Silsbee to pass.

Like I said, there are multiple offenses that use the option, not just the veer. Wishbone, triple option, wing T, I formation( Nebraska made this one famous ) even the spread ( zone read play ) is an option offense. Charlie used the veer at times, but mostly ran out of the I and pro set, not the veer. Veer is not the only option offense.
