KFDM COOP Posted May 20, 2008 Report Posted May 20, 2008 A&M's Carter withdraws name from NBA draft Aggies leading scorer to return for senior season Texas A&M leading scorer Josh Carter has decided to withdraw his name from consideration for next month's NBA Draft and will return to school for his senior season. Carter, a 6-foot-7 swingman for the Aggies, averaged 12.2 points on the way to a second straight honorable mention All-Big 12 season this past year. Carter stunned many last month when he announced he was making himself available for the draft. It was suspected all along that he was on a fact-finding mission because NCAA guidelines allow players to workout for teams and talk with NBA officials as long as they do not hire an agent. "I decided to take my name out of the draft and concentrate on my senior season," Carter said. "I'm not worried about the NBA right now. I know I have a lot to improve on and will have another shot at the draft next year." There still has been no official word on whether freshman center DeAndre Jordan will remain in the draft. Most predict the 7-foot Houston product will be a Top 10 selection, which likely means his collegiate career is over after one year.
