WOS92
Earl Thomas will play mostly offense? That's actually VERY surprising to me. He was in on D all year last year. Why are they making this change?
jdawg03
Thats an assumption...he may play equally on both....he is just such a weapon on offense, we see him spending more time there
WOS92
Oh... Whew! He pretty much plays both ways. He was our defensive leader last year. I'm expecting him to have as much impact on that side of the ball as the other.

Gasilla
Wells is a good player, but Earl is definitely the best corner in this area, maybe in the state. He will not play offense nearly as much as defense. He will play some offense, but will not come off the field on defense. He is a true "lock down" corner. Teams will not make a living throwing his way. We haven't had many as good as Earl. He reminds me a lot of Jermaine Hope, just bigger.

Besides his 6'1 185 frame, he can throw the weightroom up and he is capable of playing safety, corner, and wideout. He is not the number 8 corner in the nation for no reason. Guest Kelly Football
I would have to disagree. It's no secret Texas wants him. He may not be the best in the country but in the State pretty damn close.
Gasilla
Why yes, I am serious... I realize that Wells has all the tools and I'm not trying to disrespect him at all. Earl has intangibles to go along with his tools. He is probably the most fierce competitor that I've seen on the field. He plays every down like it's his last and actually looks like he gets offended when a team throws his direction. He plays with a controlled reckless abandon, if that makes any sense. Earl can also play safety and will be a leading receiver for WO-S.
Truth1
Every recruiting service has wells the #8 cornerback in the nation. Also he's listed in everyones top 100 list in the nation. Rivals, Scout, and ESPN. Earl is not mentioned in the top 100 on those list but the kid is very good. Also he is the best in texas and he iz the #1 corner in the nation
Guest GoStangs
Wells is #2 and Thomas is #3 in Texas on Scout.com as a DB (Scout.com); neither is mentioned on ESPN.com's recruit tracker; and on Rivals, Thomas is listed as the #8 athlete(Rivals - Thomas), whereas Wells is listed as the #8 DB (Rivals - Wells). Now they can say what they want to from a spectaturs point, but I played next to him and he is on another level. Earl is good and a heck of a player but I bet you anything that Ben Wells can lock down Earl Thomas and then turn around, get at receiver and route him up. Thats a promise. He is a heck of a player though, Im not going to take anything from him.
WOS92
Hmmm... I guess I misunderstood when gostangs said "in Texas." Beasley was the #6 CB in the nation last year. Earl isn't quite there yet.
WOS92
According to Scout.com, Earl is the #18 CB in the nation and #3 in Texas behind Wells and the kid from Gilmer, who is #1 in state. http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=73&p=9&c=4&yr=2007&pid=

KJB324
Its kinda funny how yall keep talking about people being ranked in the nation. Its impossible to have high school players accurately ranked in a national ranking. How are you gonna rank somebody who played half the season against teams like HJ,HF or orangefield. With that being said i think earl is a heck of a DB and honestly will be better at that position than beasely.

Realistically, not hopefully, both would have a hard time covering or being covered by the other one. They both have a tremendous amount of ability. WOS92
How are you gonna rank somebody who played half the season against teams like HJ,HF or orangefield Since when did 13 divided by two equal three? Let's see: we played Jasper, Bay City, Bridge City, Palestine, Giddings, Wimberley, Nederland, Beaumont Central, Anahuac and Huffman. 10 of those teams made the playoffs and one won the state championship. I'd say every team has a pansy game or two. If you're implying that he's ranked highly because his stats are padded by an easy schedule, you need to check your facts. Yeah, a few of the teams were "lousy," but there were some powers in there as well.
Guest GoStangs
KJB, I guess they rank a person who played games last year against HJ, HF, or Orangefield the same way they'd rank a player who went against teams like little cypress, Vidor, or Houston Worthing last year.
