LamarStatesports Posted June 4, 2008 Report Posted June 4, 2008 The National Fast-Pitch Coaches Association has named Lamar State College-Port Arthur freshman shortstop Christina Jaques to its All-American third team. The NFCA previously selected Jaques to its All-Midwest Region first team. Jaques, a kinesiology major from Bridge City, earned all-conference first team honors this year after leading Region XIV in batting average (.506) and triples (8), and coming in third in runs scored (28), fourth in stolen bases (18 of 20) and on-base percentage (.527) and ninth in hits (40). Jaques was ranked No. 23 in the nation in stolen bases and No. 27 in the nation in batting average at the end of the 2008 season. She set Lamar State nine team season records this season. Lamar State head coach Vance Edwards said, “Christina is an exceptional athlete and a very hardworking young lady. She is very deserving of these honors.â€
