The MLB draft begins today, and Wade and Bill Hecht have the reponsibility of repairing all the damage done to this franchise by Tim Purpura in his short stint as the GM. The Stros need a lot of their picks to pan out in this draft if they want to be cometitive in the next three to four years. Look around the league. The teams that are most successful right now are doing it with young talent brought up through the farm system. The days of buying championships are just about over and the draft has become way more important.

The days of buying championships are just about over and the draft has become way more important. Well said and biggest mistake that Drayton did was letting Jerry Hunsciker sp go. Problem with the Astros is the owner bc he cannot let these guys run the team. Just my opinion.
