KFDM COOP Posted June 5, 2008 Report Posted June 5, 2008 ROUND ROCK, Texas — Salado scored five runs in the second inning to break a 1-1 tie and went on to beat Corsicana Mildred 12-8 in the Class 2A baseball championship Thursday. Matt Fritsch doubled to centerfield to score two runs in the second for the Eagles (32-6). Another run came in when shortstop Miles Weaver overthrew the third baseman and Fritsch scored when catcher Trevor Burnet committed a throwing error at home plate. Zach Thomas (5-3) gave up seven hits and 11 runs in 4 2-3 innings in the loss. Sam Van Hoozer (10-3) allowed six hits and four runs in the win. Mildred (31-7) scored one run in the first inning off Jake Shimonek's RBI triple and rallied in the seventh inning to score four runs.
