Monarchs coach Bobby Wilder said Monday that ODU will hold full-scale scrimmages at 6 p.m. Sept. 27 and Oct. 25 at Powhatan Field near the west end of campus. A third scrimmage will take place at 1:30 p.m. Nov. 22 as part of homecoming weekend. It also will be at Powhatan Field, which is the home field for Maury and Granby high schools. The Monarchs are starting a Division I-AA football program and will bring in their first recruiting class in August. About 75 players are expected to work out this fall in preparation for the 2009 start. The incoming class reports to campus Aug. 13 and begins workouts Aug. 14.
