UNLV
Which example of a conference 2008 schedule would attract the biggest crowds to a Lamar game if Lamar useone of the following schedule? TradinUp BH
USM because they have home games against Marshall and Boise State, all the other big games the other teams play away.
Guest coachacola
You have UH's schedule posted for UL-Monroe's schedule by mistake. Here's UL-Monroe's schedule: 8/30 @Auburn 6:00 PM 9/06 Arkansas (in Little Rock) TBA 9/13 Alabama A&M 6:00 PM 9/20 @Tulane 2:00 PM 10/04 UL-Lafayette 6:00 PM 10/11 @Arkansas State 6:00 PM 10/18 UNT 6:00 PM 10/25 Florida Atlantic 6:00 PM 11/01 Troy 6:00 PM 11/08 @ Middle Tennessee TBA 11/15 @ Ole Miss 5:00 PM 11/22 @ Florida International 6:00 PM As are as schedules go, I think it's pretty easy to rank them: Big 12 better than CUSA CUSA better than Sunbelt Sunbelt better than SLC Tubbs and Woodard are going to have a hard time finding attractive non-conference games to play in Beaumont. FBS schools don't like playing on the road at FCS schools. Just stepping up into the Sunbelt gives LU a lot more opportunities than being in the SLC. The Sun Belt and several other FBS conferences, particularly those not in the BCS conferences who have a hard time finding games, have rules prohibiting them from playing at FCS institutions. As far as Sun Belt goes, Lamar does not meet the specifications of membership. You guys would need to elevate your program to FBS and also include softball in your package of additional sports. When's the softball announcement coming? "Any future members must sponsor FBS football, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, softball, and volleyball or women’s soccer. HouTexan
UNLV, to answer your hypothetical question, I'd say the UH schedule would draw the largest attendance of the ones posted. Decent home games with fairly reasonable travel distances to Beaumont from the institutions listed. Both home and away attendance would be respectable. The SLC schedules will send Lamar back to being a football-less school.

They'll probably announce softball next year. They are suppose to build a new softball field by Vincent-Beck in 2010 so unless something unforseen happens LU will be fielding a softball team along with football. I'm not saying LU should or will go to the Sunbelt, just saying more attractive teams could come to Beaumont if they were in the Sunbelt. As far a scheduling goes, with the lack of FCS teams in this part of the country and with the limitations FBS have on playing FCS schools, it would probably be best for LU, SHSU, McNeese and others to go FBS in the future. That's probably a topic for another thread, but I believe something will eventually give in the D1 FCS vs FBS football world.

This is the hidden content, please Sign In or Sign Up With nine-team SLC, that's eight SLC games. Even if a team leaves, expect one of the non-FB schools to add football or the replacement being a football school. SLC is looking at eight SLC games for the time being...three OOC games is nothing, especially with the SWAC being more "schedule-friendly" to the SLC.
