Tallboi
Aug. 29 @ Liberty (W) This game was a close one last year with BC losin it at the end BC returns most players from last year while Liberty losing key guys so i give BC the easy W. Sept. 5 Kountze (W) I would give BC the edge in this one by a very small margin simply because they have a system if ran can do lots against a team like Kountze. Sept. 12 Little Cypress-Mauriceville (W) With Troy Bolton OC anything is possible no matter "rebuilding " or not for the Bears but i'll give BC the edge in anoth close one. Sept. 19 Buna (W) This one could go either way for me but being at BC i'll give the Cards the edge. Sept. 26 @ Beaumont Kelly (L) Kelly win close at home. Oct. 3 OPEN Oct. 10 @ Hardin-Jefferson* (W) I think i'll be wrong in this pic because Trey Burrell will do great things this year for the Hawks. Oct. 17 Silsbee* (L) Tigers are big and fast, simple. Oct. 24 @ West Orange-Stark* (L) Let's hope Dan isn't having a bad day on this Friday night or it could get UGLY.... Oct. 31 @ Orangefield* (W) I think with the losses Orangefield had BC could easily walk out of FL McLain Bayou Bowl victors.... Nov. 7 Hamshire-Fannett* (L) I think HF will come to BC and claim the playoff spot over BC. 6-4, 2-3 Just my feeling on how they "possilbly" could do this year...... P.S.- I could totally be wrong but i don't care....

When I looked at their schedule, I thought the same thing. 6-4, just missing the playoffs and next year they make it.
Guest ECBucFan
....the structure of the game has now changed. Teams like BC and some others do not teach punch-out blocking anymore. When linemen are used strictly for shielding runners passing by and also for mostly pass blocking and have never been taught how to blow out a hole in the defense via shear low-centered power blocking--football suffers. Having been a lineman way back in history I would think it would be quite boring not to be utilized as the charging front line, busting the big holes for your backfield. I agree 100%! Football has become a finesse game in many ways. I love to see the rare exception when linemen are used to knock defenders to the ground, and wear out the defense by grinding their way up and down the field for 4 quarters. (seems like old linemen think alike, East TX! ;D)

East TX
To EC BucFan: Glad to hear that someone still understands the game of hard-nose football. Most Coaches today have no idea what we are talking about when you speak of--Counters,Crisscrosses, bootlegs, dives, kick-out traps, cross blocks, triple-options sets, wishbones, quick-hitters, Houston Veer, Bud Wilkinson's mid-1950s Oklahoma offense, Nederland's State Champion 1957--"three yards and a cloud of dust."; Straight-T power plunge, 3rd and short wedge-optional formations, etc: LOL The only Coach that I know of still teaching blocking and tackling and power football is Curtis Barbay up at Newton. His record speaks for itself: folks just cannot handle hard-nose football anymore and that is why he has a phenomenal ongoing record. At BC, the teaching of correct blocking and tackling kind of went away when Coaches Troy Woodall and Dwight Thacker retired and no one taught low-center of gravity blocking and tackling technique in Jr Hi football any more. I hope this can turn around in the future.
stangchain
With the type of finesse offenses (spread offenses) that they have today, you better teach mental and physical toughness on the defensive side of the ball. You better be above average.

Alot of the position coaches were first year coaches on the Varsity level because when Tarver left alot of coaches left too.....I believe BC will be able to hang in every game of the season this year.. bullets13
2-8 or 3-7, depending on the outcome of the HJ game. Next season, probably 5-5 or 6-4, but it's still a little early. yes, there are a lot of returning starters, but they're returning from a very weak team. when WOS returns 8 players on each side of the ball, that's something to crow about.
