For the most part, I agree with these. The only adjustment I'd have is to somehow make room for:

Michael Boyd

Dustin Hood

Eric Cammack

Brian Sanchez

Curtis Parks

Port Neches - Groves Indians.

1. Richy Ethridge (Texas Tech) (won SC in '75; SF in '76)

2. Dustin Long (TAMU & SHSU) (played in SC '99)

3. Jeff Bergeron (UH) (unfortunately, played in Lil' Joe Washington era)

4. Gordon LeBoeuf (TAMU) (won SC in '55)

TIE for 5th

Ted Brack (TCU) (SF in '76; played in SC in '77)

Robert Giblin (UH)

6. Matt Burnett (Lamar) (played in SF in '74)

7. Wilson Weber (UT) (SF in '74; won SC in '75)

8. Justin Eicher (unknown) (played in SC in '77)

9. Mike Simpson (UH)

TIE for 10th

Ron McGill (SFA, I believe) (QF in '89)

If my recollection of college choices is incorrect, one of the PN-G historians please correct. I know LeBoeuf, Simpson, Bergeron, and Giblin played in the NFL... but the teams/years will need to be looked up.

Go NDNs. Peace.

I agree you have to put Bryan Bock on this list. He is a former Willie Ray Smith Award Winner, and was a hard runner for the Cards for the 94-96 football seasons.

Also, How can you not put Matt Bryant on this list, he is still playing in the NFL, I don't care if it is as a kicker. He was a great athlete for the Cardinals.

I would certainly add Bock. Another one that is close in my book, is The Waterboy, Robert Melich. For his size, dude could play the LB position, sideline to sideline.

Can't have a Bridge City top ten without Mark Leblanc.

For BC, I would say that you could eventually add J. Dishon on your list. I think he will make some noise after he graduates. It might be in Baseball, but he'll do well. I heard he was a good kid and a great leader.

All these guys you mentioned were awesome and did some great things in their high school and college careers, but they could have done nothing without the team. You can not praise a running back or a quaterback unless you praise the offense line. They same with the defense. This thread is great and brings back memories, but I remember the guys in the trenches. They did all the work, our job was easy.

You are right....that's why my alltime greats at Garrison include linemen too,,,check it out. Jason Cook from the 90's, Wayne Birdwell from the 60's and Murdoch Hooper and Donnie Phillips both from the 40's were all linemen,,,defense and offense. ...since at that time Garrison played "IronMan" Football.
