Bolton returns to help guide LC-M offense

LITTLE CYPRESS — Troy Bolton is back in business.

Make that ‘Orange County†business.

Bolton, who has led local charges onto the field of play over the years, mainly at Bridge City High School, will help call to offensive plays at Little Cypress-Mauriceville next season for fourth-year head coach Todd Moody.

Bolton returns to the area after serving one year as offensive coordinator at Brazosport High School.

Bolton coached at LC-M for five years in an earlier stint at the school and was also a coach at Bridge City for more than a decade.

“I’m so glad to be home,†said Boton. “I never sold my house and felt like I would always get back to this area.â€

Bolton is looking forward to working with Moody and the Bear staff.

“I’m glad Coach Moody gave me this opportunity,†Bolton said. “There are a bunch of great kids at LC-M, I know that first-hand. I can’t wait to get back to work and get the ball rolling.â€

Moody is thrilled to have a veteran coach on the Battlin’ Bear staff.

“Troy is a tremendous addition to our staff,†expressed Moody. “He’s got a great mind and will be a tremdous asset to us on the offensive side of the ball. From what I understand, he’s really great with kids and is a good motivator. We’re proud to have him.â€

Bolton knows what it’s like to be in hard-nosed, tough districts over the years at Bridge City and LC-M. He definitely knows how strong District 20-4A is from top to bottom with the likes of LC-M, Vidor, Port Neches-Groves, Nederland, Beaumont Central, Beaumont Ozen and new addition Livingston, which was in the playoffs last year.

“There is no such thing as an easy game in our district and I’ve seen some great games over the years out of all those teams,†Bolton said. “I’m just moving from tough district to another. Last year in Brazosport, we were lining up against the likes Texas City, LaMarque and Friendswood. Our local district is just as tough as that or even tougher.â€

Bolton is just one of several local coaches that have returned to their roots.

Toby Foreman will return to West Orange-Stark to help on the offensive side of the ball and coach track again after ˙eading to Baytown Lee last year.

LC-M graduate Mike Stewart, who was the head coach at Lulig the last two years, leading that school to back-to-back playoff spots, is the new offensive coordinator at Orangefield.

Josh Smalley departed as Orangefield offeisve coordinator to return to his alma mater in Bridge City where he will be the offensive coordinator there.

Chad Landry, who coached baseball at Hamshire-Fannett the last five seasons, is now the head baseball coach at Bridge City.

Callie Orebo, who led the WO-S Lady Mustangs to three regional tournament appearances in basketball, will return to her head-coaching duties after stepping down for a year last season.
