hockeyfan Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 http://www.wildcattershockey.com/news/fullstory.php?id=234 So great to see a nice player signed! And he was with Long Beach....how unexpected. And Coop...he was drafted by the Stars! 8)
hockeyfan Posted August 7, 2006 Author Report Posted August 7, 2006 Question, but how come NONE of the local news stations talked about this signing? :x All there was on the news was high school football. That's quite pathetic, considering the fact that the Wildcatters are a PROFESSIONAL team. The players come from thousands of miles away, and are drafted by the NHL and INVITED to teams around pro hockey. :?:
hockeyfan Posted August 7, 2006 Author Report Posted August 7, 2006 It's not your fault, Coop. :? I just don't understand why certain OTHER news people didn't do something.
Guest emonarch777 Posted August 7, 2006 Report Posted August 7, 2006 calling and asking why doesn't do anything either
DenisGScott Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 Friedman was probably too busy in a tanning bed with his fake bake, should have a contest to see who has the worse tan Friedman or Shawn Murdock. I miss having Greg Kerr around he was cool. Back when I was in radio we'd get together and play hoops at the Montagne Center a couple times a week. It would Kerr, Randy McIlvoy, myself, Dan Gresham showed up a few times, other people we knew would come play Chuck McElroy former major league pitcher from the area would play in winter along with former WOS Roderick Robertson, we'd get out there around 9 and play until 1130, grab lunch then all go into work at our respective media outlets.
DenisGScott Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 That was all a long time ago before I shredded my knee playing baseball in the mens senior league back when I was still in radio at KLVI working with Hofferth and had my own sports show there too.... ahh the good old days. Still miss working those Friday night football games though sometime, havent been to one in ages.
KFDM COOP Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 Better get back to them this year, then get to some Hockey games.
DenisGScott Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 HS football doesnt really fit into my schedule, hopefully I will be back as public address announcer for the Catters, at least thats the impression I got from Rick at the press conference when Cameron was introduced.
KFDM COOP Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 I'm going to try and go to alot of the Wildcatters games this year..
DenisGScott Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 I read a post on the booster club website that Ashlee Langdone is back in town and wants to play for us again, now thats he's married to a local girl. He was always a blast to watch out there and great at picking fights and entertaining.
hockeyfan Posted August 8, 2006 Author Report Posted August 8, 2006 Ash isn't the only guy to be staying here. Phil Osaer(though he is to play in Europe this year) is engaged to a girl from the area. Jason Cugnet is married to a girl from Lumberton(?), and there are a few other guys that have serious girlfriends here. They all love the weather here, but I still think that Canada is much nicer.
DenisGScott Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 only during the summer not in the middle of winter up there when its 30 below with a wind chill of 70 below
hockeyfan Posted August 8, 2006 Author Report Posted August 8, 2006 Oh, now it's not that bad....it only gets to -40. Let me rephrase what I originally posted. The guys(before they retire from hockey) that want to live HERE in the off-season must be crazy. The grass is always greener, I suppose.
DenisGScott Posted August 8, 2006 Report Posted August 8, 2006 if the temps get down to +40 here I only go outside if I have to. I can be outside in 105 all day playing golf but get down to 40 and I dont even want to go outside to walk the dog.
hockeyfan Posted August 8, 2006 Author Report Posted August 8, 2006 I agree....some people are made for warmer weather than others. That's why I only travel up north during spring-fall. What was funny was when I was in Edmonton last Thanksgiving(American Thanksgiving) and there was NO snow at all. Not in Alberta or Saskatchewan. But there was snow in Montana and North Dakota. Alberta had a Chinook blowing through, thus causing their warmer(but still cold) temps.
