Lamar intends to hire another assistant football coach this week

Another assistant coach should join the newly formed football staff at Lamar University this week, head coach Ray Woodard said.

Citing university policy, Woodard declined to name the new assistant until his name is officially on the payroll. The new assistant will join Will Richard and Craig McGallion, a pair of Southeast Texans who were hired June 16. Woodard also said he hopes to hire three more assistant coaches by the end of the year.

Woodard's contract with Lamar calls for the head coach to hire six assistant coaches, as well as a graduate assistant and player tutor.

Lamar announced its intent last year to resurrect a football program that has been dormant since 1989. Students voted in January to approve a fee that will help fund the program, and the university's board of regents approved the fee in February.

Lamar hired Woodard on May 19 and plans to begin playing games in 2010.

Looks bad on when Texas Terror knows more about what is going on in Cardinal Country. Obviously, he has a good idea of who it is. I have too many fires burning at the present time. Will be glad when life is back to normal....
