Officials say the crash happened at about 7:45 p.m. during the third lap of a super modified race. The Toledo Blade reported that according to Lucas County (Ohio) cornor's investiator Charlie Hunt, after the four cars collided, Gibson's spun out and its rear hit the wall. He said an autopsy was pending. Racing continued after the crash. Super modifieds are open-wheel, lightweight-frame race cars that run engines capable of producing 800-plus horsepower.
